Damn even getting a haircut has become politicized
[removed]
Imagine alienating 50% of your potential customer base because they don’t have the same political beliefs as you.
When the place eventually goes out of business, I guarantee the owner will act like he has no idea why.
*edit: the number of “insufferable conservatives” that are truly butthurt at the thought of a sample population potentially being 50% liberal is hilarious.*
On their website it says, “You are always welcome at T. Benjamin’s.”
The beauty of free speech that people don’t always understand- it let’s people know exactly who you are, and then they can choose to interact with you or not.
Idiots always make themselves known. You just have to ‘read the signs’.
If a barber opened up right next door that agreed not to talk about **anything** – politics or otherwise – during the entire haircut unless I wanted to I would throw money at them.
The logo looks like a dick
I have a sign in my shop that says “No Talkin’ Religion, No Talkin’ Politics, No Talkin’ Shit! ”
Huntin’ and fishin’ lies accepted…
My favorite barber has a no politics rule on the board.
Anyone who mixes business and politics is a bad business man (unless your business IS politics).
I kinda wish all dumbfucks would out themselves so effectively.
My mom was a hair dresser. She said the three things you never talk about are sports, religion and politics.
My barber can be an insufferable ass at times, and I really don’t like looking at his ugly mug in the mirror, but I don’t have any plans to change. I mean, who else is going to cut my hair in my own bathroom with my own clippers whenever I feel like it an not charge me for it?
So what’s everyone’s opinion of silent appointments?
My wife’s stylist has a sign in her workspace more or less saying it’s fine to ask for a silent appointment. I think it’s a considerate message to post when most would think themselves rude for asking for no conversation.
From a business perspective why would you purposely alienate a portion of the market. You certainly don’t have to agree with them but take their money at least.
Had a barber in NYC who blasted Farrakhan’s anti-semitic rants on the radio. Had to stop going.
Edit: What’s really bad is that I’m Jewish and I didn’t speak up.
What if you are a sufferable liberal?
I found a new barber last month and when I walked in they were discussing whether you could air-fry someone’s remains to save on cremation costs. I knew I’d found my new regular.
Edit: Since a few people have asked, they decided “Probably not.” But then someone asked “What if we found a way to sell our bodies to a group of cannibals, and donate the money to charity?” The rest of the conversations during my haircut had that same feel to them. I had to try really hard not to laugh and get a chunk of hair buzzed off.
My son hates to talk to barber. Went to a new guy that was really good. Son said he liked him because he only asked him a couple questions. Barber later told me he’ll ask 3 questions. If he gets 1 word answers he stops talking. All good
You should turn on your camera, go in and make a scene. Scream about how your freedoms have been violated.
I’ll never understand why businesses will willingly put up something like that to alienate at least half of their potential clientele. Oh well. I’m sure he blames every misfortune in his life on libs.
