The only way is if you pay them extra for their shit online service and you only rent them until you stop paying. This is why their shit is pirated so much. I would have jumped to buy Majoras Mask and Paper Mario 64…. I will not be paying for their online service though. I own the originals so I don’t feel bad downloading ROMS to play on my PC.
They do this every time. They have a classic games library and they shut it down for that particular system. They do the same thing over and over again and it’s annoying have to rebuy stuff
What do you expect them to do? It’s not feasible for them to continue to support a decreasingly profitable service for an outdated console indefinitely.
I mean does Sony let you downlos every game from PS1? Are you able to find every classic PC game and have it still be runnable? I feel like this is putting a weird standard on Nintendo and not every other company
You would just have to buy them second hand like everyone else does for every other old game. It’s a niche market. Why would they invest in that instead of like, new games? It doesn’t make financial sense
I would think a system like Nintendo Steam would make sense, Nintendo adds all the old games for purchase and now you own it digitally to download on any system via a certain sign in that is on new consoles/ added to the current gen. Then offer some type of subscription for access to certain genres or packages. Yea its not gunna net them the most but it will give a lot of people the ability to buy old games they want or have heard about.
Hacking Nintendo’s machines is not only a good idea, it’s pretty much an obligation to yourself at this point.
I normally buy the shit out of retro packs like what’s available on steam from Atari and Sega, and tons of PS1 classics, but Nintendo hates people actually buying their games
My opinion on this is that Nintendo knows how to make money and will resell their old games again and again to make more. Even if it costs the consumers. And they keep buying it.
On the other hand, Nintendo has no obligation to keep their many older games available and/or for a cheap price. They can do what they want with the products they created. No one has a “right” to their videogames.
Everyone acting as if this is the end of game preservation
Everyone literally shat on me when I told them to buy a 3DS or a Wii-u if they wanna play old Nintendo games and told me that emulation exists on their PCs/phones
Now..everyone is mad about something I know ya’ll never used/use and acting like it’s not something Sony just did the other day too (and will probably do it again very soon for the Vita)
I know this place is Anti-Nintendo but HOLY shit you guys suck ass sometimes
The problem is you guys want to buy everything digitally. If you love these damn old games so much, then buy a physical copy once, and then you’ll be good forever. Easier to complain though.
Yeah, I recently tried to buy Earthbound for the switch because I’ve never played it. Only to find it’s only on the SNES online subscription service. So, I guess I won’t be playing it anytime soon. Oh well. Whatever. One less reason to keep buying Nintendo products. I would’ve been fine buying it by itself because I thought it was a Switch port.

Like I get why it’s getting shut down but seeing all the games not current available officially on other platforms makes me upsetty

Don’t have any remorse installing homebrew now, it’s actually easy.
By making old games unavailable it means they can more effectively re-sell them at a later date. Simple as.
Super aggravating but they aren’t under any ‘obligation’ to make anything available.
I’m hoping this is leading to a release of many of them on Switch, but probably not
Reminder that Nintendo are fucking assholea and to pirate everything they have ever made with no guilt
Odd to see Nintendo openly endorsing piracy.
I feel like there should be a right to pirate law (bootleg)
Time to pirate!!
Nintendo wants people to experience their games on original hardware only then wonder why the hell their games are pirated often

If I wanna play em I’ll play em.
Emulators
Or they’re decommissioning dead systems?

Nintendo will definitely be scrutinized though.

It’s like they want you to pirate their games.
Emulators = Problem Solved
No they will just wait a bit make people hungry for it then sell it to u again
I’ve modded my Wii and WiiU with hard drives. I’m good.
