  • That was a grim day.

    My Mother, Grandmother, and I were antiquing in Connecticut when we heard the news. When we drove back to Westchester, we found that my Father had returned home from work in the city; he was so shattered that he broke all of the glass panels in one of the downstairs doors.

    We spent the following days watching television. It was devastating. When Jack Ruby shot Oswald, I remember saying that he was a good guy for killing him but my Father said “No, he’s an asshole because we’ll never know the truth.” Yes, he swore in front of toddler me and yes, he was more prescient than we might have imagined.
