This is beautiful!!!
‘The March’, 120x60cm acrylic on linen canvas. This piece is now available to purchase. https://www.sophiegreenfineart.com/march
Wait that’s a paint? I thought it was a real photo XD
These penguins are so good at queueing that they are fast-tracked for british nationality.
“My **PAINTING**”???? Jeeeeeesus, dude. Speechless.
Woah that’s PAINT???? Congrats!!!
damnnn, thats a sick painting
Wow! What a beautiful painting.
How easy was it to secure the rights from David Tipling to use his photo for this? I’ve always wondered about the ins and outs of that process.
That looks really sick! and i love pengwings lol
That is an incredible painting! Do you sell prints of your work?
Avatar aang meets his predecessors
I love the two penguins at the end.
“What the FUCK, Mike?!”
“Jeez… sorry.”
Genuinely thought it was a photo.
And I imagine the last two are a couple and ones saying “I told you we should of got here sooner! Look at this queue!!”
While most people are raving about the technical competence of your painting technique, (which is fair enough, it ***is*** amazing) I am more impressed with the composition. (If that is the right word)
The way the scene fades into the “snow” and there is nothing,***nothing*** else. It really hammers home the point that they live in a desolate emptiness, but still somehow survive.
I like how the gradients on their feet give the effect of drifting snow as they waddle away. Did you use less pressure (and acrylic) on the brush to give the perception of distance? That’s such a creative way to be resourceful and incorporate the medium into your work. Easily mistaken this for a picture.
Pretty cool, definitely got balls to first perfectly paint a layer and then have to go over it in white to give it that off-in-the-distance look.
Your painting is so well done that I can hear it.
Was just talking this morning about how individual penguins will sometimes just snap walk alone into seemingly to nowhere until they die.
The artist is Sophie Green. She does a lot of great things for David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation. For anyone who really likes her artwork, there’s lots of other great prints on her website.
My personal favourite is the polar bear, but there’s also a really great underwater whale painting I really like.
Linux distros be like:
More relevant than ever, with this recent horrible news: “Halley Bay colony in the Weddell Sea, the second-largest Emperor penguin colony, for three years all the chicks died.”
This is both beautiful and interesting! It’s subtle but somehow it’s also a head-turner. Congrats on the well-deserved recognition and thank you for sharing your talent!!!
I think you’re the same person that had that profile of a bison painting a while back.
Even though I don’t like penguins as much as bison, I think I might even like this painting a bit better.
Very impressive work, thanks for sharing!
Are there prints of that painting available for sale? What sizes? My son LOVES penguins, and this would make a perfect present for him.
Impressive work. I’m reading painting, but keep seeing a photo. The shading (possibly the wrong term) is so well done and gives a real sense of distance.
One of my favourite painters is Vebjørn Sand and this reminds me of some of his work.
Edit: for clarification, he did a series on penguin and polar bear paintings. I used to have a lot of his penguin prints on my wall and currently have one of his polar bears prints above my office desk.
Taking commissions yet?
The depth and technique is absolutely amazing, love it!
Sam would love this.
I didn’t see it was a painting at first and was about to ask where you where to take this pic lol. It’s amazing

That is amazing great work!
I don’t know much about nature or animals, but even I can say those are some great looking dogs.
Sam from Atypical would go nuts for this
Really lame not to mention this is just a painted copy of a great photo.
The depth and attention to detail is incredible.
100% deserved
Gorgeous i love the foggy snow coming up makes the photo look dreamlike
How much? 👀👀
I have a print! It looks beautiful in my new apartment
