That is fantastic. The stories she must have after that journey. Right on.
All because you wouldn’t give her a ride. Family comes first.
I would make a poster. My mom biked 2400 miles across the country and all I got was this stupid poster. Your moms a badass.
Wow! Did she blog or anything? I want to learn more!
Hell yeah, Mom! Did she take the TransAmerica route?
Congrats to your mama! Awesome!
I did 350 miles in 3 days once. At the end, both legs locked up, I got a permanent scar on my butt from chafing, and got a nasty hemorrhoid.
Your mom puts me to shame.
My brother did that. Dipped his back tire in the Atlantic and then his front tire in the Pacific. Congratulations to your mom. I’m sure it’s a life-changing achievement.
Most days my mom is my hero.
Today, your mom is also my hero.
You know, if you had just given her a phone with a GPS she wouldn’t have gotten lost in the first place.
(congrats to your mom)
Yo mama so cool she traversed an entire continent on a bicycle 😂
How long did that take?
Congrats to her. Was there a cause or is it “because I can?”
Would also love to hear her favorite places to ride through
where did she end up at?
That’s an incredible achievement, my sincerest kudos to her. Would you mind sharing the general route? ie California to Georgia, Washington to Massachusetts, etc?
After the picture was taken she lowered her arms, placed her hands on the handlebars, and started pedaling home. 🚲
Congrats to your mom! I’m apprehensive riding on the roads in Vermont due to how many people I see texting while driving. What an incredible achievement. Solo?
Story time! What was her motivation to accomplishing this feat?
Seems like the reasonable thing to do would be to turn around and ride back
Pretty awesome!
I had an aunt who walked from SF to New York in the 80’s. She wrote a book about it essentially posting her diaries. She was shot, her husband almost died along the way etc. Quite the venture whether on foot or bike! 👍to you’re mom!
What a fucking boss, huge props because that’s an insane accomplishment!
My mom did that too! San Diego => St. Augustine

Holy shit. I DROVE from Milwaukee to Los Angeles and thought that was brutal. Now I’m trying to imagine riding a fucking bike instead.
my butt hurts merely considering this
And she wasn’t even clipped in.
My best friend was in the middle of this ride when he was hit & killed by someone driving under the influence. Ten years ago this year. He was 25. I want to finish his ride someday! Thank you for sharing this, it honestly made my day.
Beast! My max was 45 in one day and I was gassed, I wanna do something like this someday. Maybe the GAP from Pittsburgh to DC
A couple years ago, I did a seven month, 5,300 mile (8,500 km) bike trip around the western US. Wisconsin to Seattle, down the Pacific coast, and into Arizona. Though I was only 20-21 years old when I did it! Tell your mom that she’s an absolute inspiration. I can only hope that when I’m her age, I still have half the drive to do stuff like this!
How do you even do this? Just sleep at a hotel every night? Eat at restaurants every meal?
11 years ago in 2012 I got laid off, so I threw all my stuff into storage and spent the next 6 months cycling from New York to Oregon, down the west coast to San Diego, then back across the country to Florida…. 6 months, 26 states, and 9,000 miles of cycling!
Here’s a [map](https://imgur.com/a/SKFxylj) of my route. Most people cycling cross country follow one of the [Adventure Cycling routes](https://www.adventurecycling.org/routes-and-maps/adventure-cycling-route-network/interactive-network-map/), with the TransAmerica route being the oldest and most popular.
Was a great time, I camped most nights (Adventure Cycling routes go through a lot of small towns and many of them will allow cyclists to camp in their park, or stay in their rec center, fire station, local church, etc.) I also used the website [Warm Showers](https://www.warmshowers.org/), it’s like Couchsurfing but for people on bikes.
AMA – It was an adventure of a lifetime and I wish everyone could experience something so grand.
