I had that identical pipe. The secondary cylinder held the stash. Made of brass with enough mass to it that you could close the lid with a hot cherry in it and put it in your pocket without getting burned I lost it years ago and still miss it!
I haven’t seen one of those in at least 20 years! They definitely still made them well into the 90’s as I remember a couple of buddies getting new ones while we were in highschool (class of 2001). Then the glass phase kicked in and now you can buy a decent glass piece at just about any corner store 🤷🏻♂️
Back in the day (30+ years ago) I was always told not to use plumbing fittings as they may cause leukemia. I don’t know if that was true (no Internet back then) but the guy who told me died young from leukemia. Is there any truth to that?

An old classic! Ahhhh… memories.

Those are still popular!
Oh yeah I had one of them…I mean one of my friends did
Those things weren’t cheap either!
Thats so cool I have one just like it but its missing the cylinder pice and the tool
Huh, I wouldn’t have guessed. That looks like someone’s shop class project. _To put weed in._
Steampunk-crackhead vibes
You put the weed in there
always clog and a bloody mess to clean.
And we all said , prooootooooo

Thought brass /yellow metals are no good to smoke out of due to causing lockjaw and potentially other harmful side effects
I liked it ok, but it would get clogged easily.
I haven’t seen one of these in ages!
Missing the poker like the rest of us?
First pipe I ever smoked out of. Solid as an engine block.
Brass typically has lead in it.
I wouldn’t recommend using it, in case you were considering it.
I had one of those. They got clogged very quickly.
I miss mine !
I have no idea what this is lol
Wow that looks so familiar
My dad would go through these things like tooth brushes
Seen those at the old headshop.
Show me where these old brass pipes fetch 300$
I’ve smoked from one of these.
The poker is gone. The poker is always long gone.
Yessss! I had one like this, it was my favorite ever! Had a pokey to clear and clean it! Some fuckin cop took mine but I remember it fondly
These things are fuckin sick
Still v v common in the 90s
I think a pipe is a pretty historied design, which 80’s is your dad from lol
Edit: ohhhhhhhhhhh proto-pipe is a brand name I feel like a fucking idiot lmao
That’s a damned classic
Man, brings back memories. But from the 90s
have many and use frequently.
Brings back memories. I bought the Proto Pipe and my buddy bought the Credit Card Pipe. Mine was the one we both used regularly
