Look at the stem, they are ALL unripe. Stem is green and full of water, it’s still feeding the watermelon. When it’s shriveled down it’s a sign that plant is mature and has stopped growing and doesn’t require nutrition any more.
I’m guessing the people involved knew this was unripe and decided to have a bit of fun. Personally I don’t just randomly film my partner purchasing fruits and then wait and film again when they are cutting into it just to hope it’s gonna go sideways.
Here is how to get a good watermelon *most* of the time:
Check for sun spots. These will be yellowish and might be slightly indented. You want this. Knock on it, does it sound hollow? You want this. Are there rough spots with a strange texture? You want this. All of these are signs that the watermelon was in the field longer, giving it more time to sweeten. Doesn’t work every time but it helps.
Slapping them does nothing. Look at the ends and the lighter it is, the more ripe it is. The greener the lest ripe since it was still not done growing.
you have to SMELL it!!

For sweet watermelon, pick :
▪︎ Round, not oblong
▪︎ Orange-y field spot, not pale yellow/white spot
▪︎ Dark and dull, not shiny and pale
▪︎ Large criss-cross webbing

Deep yellow underbelly, I haven’t had an unripe one yet
