Monty Python IRL: Did protestors in London really carry signs that read “Down With This Sort of Thing?” Yes. Yes, they did.

Careful, now.
The title unfunnyfied the post
Not monty python. Father ted.
I never voted for him
I embrace the efficiency of having one poster you can use for multiple occasions.
Reminds me of a recent anti-Vax protest in our city, one guy had a great sign:
“LEGALIZE RANCH DRESSING”
Erratum — title should read: Fr. Ted in Real Life https://youtu.be/gT9xuXQjxMM
She has been photographed at several protests on various issues holding that same sign
This is a father Ted joke…. Not Monty python
That is such a polite protest.
my sign would say “bit frustrating innit”
Father Ted.
And it’s a Irish tv show.
Missed an opportunity to have a sign that said “Down with this sort of King!”
Just because watery tart throws a sword at you
I mean, you can reuse the sign for almost any protest. I applaud their commitment to re-use.
Ah, the Father Ted placard – now that’s a proper great British tradition.
I carried one myself at the only protest march I’ve been on,as we were marching along I passed an old couple,as I did the guy said “ down with what sort of thing?” in a very puzzled voice.
The real Monty Python reference was King Charles being handed the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch.
Its a practical sign. They can protest anything without having to make a new sign.
You have just committed a faux pas that is the equivalent of Star Wars/Star Trek.
Do they not like Charles in particular, or just don’t think there should be monarchs?
“I didn’t vote for you!”
I think you mean Father Ted
American here….what’s going on?
As a non-Brit, what’s up with the whole “Not my King”? Like, is it a general ‘eat the rich’ feeling or something else?
This is not Monty Python. This is Father Ted.
Supreme executive power derived from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.
He’s not the king, he’s just a very naughty boy!
The post you make when you don’t know what Monty Python is.
Do you remember that bit when St. Tibulus, he tried to take that banana off the other lad?
Is there a lot of nudity Father?
“I am your king!”
“I didn’t vote for you.”
I’ll join the mob and express mild outrage that a father Ted joke has been misattributed.
I hear youre an anti-monarchist now, father.
One said something along the lines of “This is a bit silly isn’t it”
Look, he was handed the sword by a woman lying in a body of water, so he’s the king fair and square.
Come see the violence inherent in the system! I’m being oppo!
I am convinced that ” The Office ” bombarded the paparazzi towards Diana. Therefore, killing her. Otherwise, Charles would not be able to marry Garilla until his 1st wife was dead.
I have totally lost respect for that whole system. Tradition? Well… it sure is costing their citizens a lot of money. And now, Garilla is Queen? Not Queen Consort!? Sheesh…
Yes! I will pay someone $100 to get in front of a live broadcast with a sign that says, “I just woke up. What’s going on?”
Wrong British comedy show.
