One of the steady criticisms of these monster movies was how the human story is boring. I wonder how they are going to pull that off here.

Does Godzilla get a “Special Guest Star” credit in the episodes he shows up in like Meryl Streep in Only Murders in the Building?

I hope this goes back to the feel and vibe of the original teasers for Godzilla (2014) and Kong: Skull Island (2017).

Even though i liked those movies, the first trailers sold a completely different movie in tone and afterwards (sequels), it turned into straight up MCU with giant monsters.

This trailer gives me hope though.

Godzilla Minus One and this tv show will feed my serious and gritty giant monster thirst.

I don’t think they’d said that John Goodman would be in this as Bill Randa. I know they’d revealed that Anders Holm would play a younger version of the character, but having Goodman back however briefly will be a treat.

This looks really good. Almost all of the Apple shows I’ve watched so far have been great, especially in terms of special effects and cinematography, so fingers crossed this one doesn’t disappoint.

I’m torn on this. Could be awesome, but every single Godzilla movie I cringe out of my body watching the bad human characters and seethe in pain until the Monsters get back.

    I would imagine it’ll be:

    – Pilot: lots of human stuff, 3m of monster stuff at the end to hook you
    – Eps 2-7: boring human drama, seconds of monster stuff sprinkled throughout
    – Finale: 10m of the end will be monster stuff, ensuring ‘by season 2 we promise, more monsters!’

I know it’s not realistic to have an 8 episode show with the majority focusing on monsters, so I’m interested to see how they pull this off.

Since this is probably the first kaiju movie where the name of the monster isn’t in the title, I wonder if that’ll deter anyone from seeing it since, from just the title, they wouldn’t know that it’s a Godzilla series

When I was a kid, my uncle (who was more like an older brother to me) introduced me to Godzilla and the other kaiju. We would watch Godzilla films all of the time, and that was very much a major component for me growing up and nurtured my love for scifi and horror. Although he passed away years ago, seeing the movies being (and now this new television show) being made, makes me feel close with him in memory and that he would love these.

So, I do not know if this will be good or not but I am still very excited for this.

Skull Island anime was epic, Gamera Rebirth just released, this and Minus One are coming out this year, and GxK is next year.

Kaiju fans are eating an all you can eat buffet!

I LOVE that Kurt Russell’s son Wyatt is playing a younger version of him. It’s time someone took advantage of nepotism in Hollywood haha

This is yet another example of a TV show using a Disney+ budget and completely killing it. I have no idea why everything feels so cheap on Disney+ at this budget level. They honestly should be around the same quality but its almost laughable how much cheaper a Disney show feels compared to this, Stranger Things 4 or One Piece.

    This could be big.

This world has needed necessary world building the movies don’t have time for and with this it might be able to explain away things like the advancements in technologies.
