I wonder if they’re wearing gloves to hide the red marks from repeated canings 😂 My mom went to a religion-run school as a kid, but she was a total shit-starter and got her palms slapped with rulers weekly.
Mom and her sister was forced into a convent in Wales when she was little due to her mom passing away and the war.
Those fucking evil Catholic nuns forced her to kneel on the stairs on dried peas in the prayer position for hours as punishment. Practically crippled her. Like a fucking torture.
Catholicism is such a great religion with all the child torture and little boy rape.
It’s amazing that super religious people, regardless of the religion, always revert to imposing strict rules and harsh punishments despite most religions being about peace and good will. These people always pick the parts that allow them to do what they want and treat people like shit.
It’s so sad to read these comments about some people’s bad experiences!! The nuns I have seen and the ones that I know are truly sweet, patient, peaceful, and full of love! They would never do what has been mentioned; it’s unacceptable! Catholicism is so full of love, beauty, and Truth. And I’m sad to hear about how much the wolves (fake christians) and deeply hurt Christians who, sadly, hurt others back, have really messed up a lot of people’s experiences and perception of The Church. Jesus and His Church are all about Love and Selflessness! 💜
7-year-old Mom is third from left

God is not real.
I’m guessing the kid in the middle was later punished for smiling.

This doesn’t look like religious dress to me. It looks more like they are dressed like pilgrims for a Thanksgiving pageant.
Looks like the perfect picture for the beginning or ending of a horror movie .. a la The Shining.
I spotted the witch.
2nd from left was dead.
This looks the kind of image they’d use in a mysterious character establishing scene for a new Netflix original German-language series

They look like Puritans dressed up for Thanksgiving.
The shadow figure and gloom of the photo look cult like
Oh, look discipline. How abhorrent.
Meanwhile at public schools at the same time…..
More of the same
Perhaps it’s what the people wanted
Where was this?
are some of them wearing wooden shoes? are they in the Netherlands?
Was she growing up in Europe?
Nun Cadet School
Reminds me a bit of that Madeline cartoon (and books probably?). This is such a great photo!!
My nan went to a school ran by nuns and she said the nuns are the most unholy people she’s ever met, she’s still afraid of them till this day.
My mother is an atheist because of her experiences in catholic school in the 60’s 🙏
r/oddlyterrifying
they really do not look happy there, so sad that they get brainwashed with religion that takes it away from them so young
Dutch?
I don’t want to be that guy. But how old is your mom? Like that’s actually old school cool.
That girl center-front definitely got smacked on the knuckles with a ruler for smiling.
This sub is for old school cool, not old school misery
OP here. One hundred comments but not a single one on the nun hiding in plain sight?
This is one of those photos you see in the conjuring or insidious. I think i see the demon…
I’m not brave enough to zoom in on this photo.
Sure they aren’t just dressed like pilgrims for thanksgiving?

They are wearing poffers, where the little bite size dutch pancakes “poffertjes” derive their name.
that pic in the back left looks like Haile Selassie, which it definitely isn’t but that would be funny
I’m not sure if it’s optical illusion but who is the guy with cloak on?
Or they were Dutch.
What county?
Old bags.
Was this taken right before they started singing “we don’t need no education”?
Dressed like miniature flying nuns !
Now imagine a boys school where the teachers are cowboys and they dress their students up in little rodeo outfits
They’re all about to take off 😁
Nothing cool about kids getting brainwashed
God yes. Those poor kids. They look so uptight.
It’s like something straight from Jane Eyre!
