Boy, this hits close to home. I lost my son when he was 27, and I just finished writing a book about how that felt and how it’s been in the six years since.
For those that don’t know it… Newsround, the program he was interviewed for there, is such a wonderful institution. A news program aimed at children that from day 1 decades ago set out to report headline news to children in the way they could understand it, but without dumbing it down or changing the narrative.
A very difficult thing to do, but something they achieved brilliantly.
Michael Rosen is such a great guy. For all the memes that have been made through his videos, his life is actually quite tragic, and he’s a real artist as well
My son and I were at a pool party when he was like 4. He wore the Jumper floats so he could swim around everywhere. The kids got out, finished swimming and did the cake for his friend.
Me and another dad were still in the pool even though everyone went in. We were laughing and I didn’t hear the splash. He said “was that your kid?” We had to rush across the pool and he was almost at the bottom staring up. We got him out and he coughed with a little water there. He was fine though and nurses checked him out.
That was 6 years ago. About once a month I’ll hear something about someone drowning in real life or a movie and have almost a full on panic attack. Heart racing and almost in tears. It hits hard.
If it really happened…I can’t imagine how hard that would be to deal with.
What a nice guy.

I’m still at a point where saying that my mum died, or even just thinking of that fact, makes me tear up.
You get all sort of weird reactions from people. Some are sympathetic, some just need to get out of that situation as fast as possible.
Is that the “click, noice” guy?
I can’t imagine the pain of hiding this.
