We saw him and the Doobie Brothers a couple of weeks ago, and his voice is still strong, though his phrasing is so loose he kinda sounds like a really high-quality parody of himself. His son’s band was the opening act, and I get the feeling maybe he made that a condition for agreeing to rejoin the band for this tour. The kid was not awful, but it seemed like if someone was making a TV movie and needed a pop band but didn’t have the budget for a known one
