I refuse to believe this post wasn’t suggested to me algorithmically. I have been absolutely bumping some INXS lately. Suicide Blonde is such a great song.
There’s a relatively newer documentary about him called Mystify that puts a lot of things in perspective, including his death (suicide).
It’s revealed that he got a traumatic permanent brain injury in 1992 that took away his sense of taste and smell. That, alone, is a pretty devastating thing to happen. He was seriously depressed, his band members said he changed after that, was extremely hostile and towards them, and he dove into heroin use.
He frequently talked of suicide, told people that no one has any idea what’s going on in his head…
And that last night with Geldoff telling him he’s a junkie and will never see his kids again…
“Michael made me sexy!” Was Kylie’s headline on the front page of New Idea magazine after they broke up. She certainly shifted her style after going out with him. He really was a classic rock star.
She was and still is very broken up about his death… there’s a suspicion that his strange behaviour in his last few years was as a direct result of a brain injury he received in 1992 after being attacked by a taxi driver in Denmark.
Michael was super supportive of Kylie’s dreams of becoming a music star with her own themes, and even after his death her dalliances with disco (Gerling, Towa Tei) eventually lead to her massive hit Fever, which still stands up well today.
My first concert I went to was INXS. Feb 19th, 1988 in Mainz Germany. I was a 15 year old military brat living in Wiesbaden and a friend and I took the bus to Mainz to see them at Elzer Hof. It was a packed concert hall. We sat in the upper balcony because it was body to body on the floor. A fight broke out and like magic the crowd parted. The loser got surfed out and the band kept playing. Best concert I ever went to! Even beat out the monsters of rock concert. Probably cause it was my first and I skipped school to go.
This was a seismic event in Australian pop culture. The national sweetheart hooking up with the national bad boy. It turned out to be a very positive experience for both of them.
This man did them all. Including Belinda Carlisle.
This dude went out in possibly the best feeling, worst for your legacy way, ever. Devil Inside, indeed.
Never Tear Us Apart came on my shuffle the other day, what a great time for music that whole era was.

I think of the babies these two should have had and don’t cry…but my eyes get moisten up a bit.

Michael hutchence, the legend.
RIP my man. I hope the music is good and company is cool wherever you are!
What a fucking babe.
Kylie was pretty hot, too.
Women wanted him. Men wanted to be him.
Thought it was Rachel mcadams at first.
In college I was crushing hard on this girl that was infatuated with him.
She said that she met him after tripping over something and Hutchence came to her rescue. Made me a bit jealous.
She was outta my league anyways.
That’s a pretty cool dude to be hanging out with Street Fighter’s Cammy.
She’s very attractive.
But he is breathtaking.
I Should be so lucky…
Topped himself at the Ritz Carlton in Sydney, down Macquarie St.
Poor Mick.
The Passenger cover he did is pretty awesome. RIP man.

What’s next for Michael Hutchence?
KMFDM don’t care for Madonna or Kylie Minogue.
Where is the Chalamet biopic of this?!
Mikey was always seen with the most beautiful women… but he balanced that with Paula Yates.
I used to race against him in inter-school swimming meets. We knew each other but only to nod.
Now they want to crown me for the ghost of the year.
Where’s the photo of them on beach with her topless and Michael pitching a tent?

Kylie is one of those chicks who age like a high quality wine
Around this time he said his job was “corrupting Kylie”
He was a well known horndog so I can’t help but think of that quote when I see Kylie…

I’ve never heard of either of them.
Anyone ever see Dogs in Space (movie with Michael on it)?

She looks gorgeous! He, on the other hand…no.
