I still have the box on my shelf. Top notch story and gameplay.
Is it possible to play it anywhere these days? Miss it hard
ChromeHounds
I loved that game. Loved blasting mech in the leg and steal their weapon during salvage between levels. BTW, has anyone found a way to play it on W11? Still got the original CD (nowhere to play it though).
mech warrior online is really fun, ive never played any of the MW franchise titles before but im really tempted to buy mech warrior 5 mercs as it has the mwo mechs and looks just as good.
I love my corsair 7a, and my new missile boat lrm spammer the nova cat b.
MECHS ARE SO COOL WHY DIDNT I PLAY THESE GAMES WHEN I WAS A YOUNGIN.
Best game intro ever
Dude the MW 2 [intro](https://youtu.be/-X3GD0UnBCk).
Sad to this day this franchise died. It was so fun and modern customization would be sooooooooo Flippin good.
A remaster of this one is in order. 3 was solidly good. Challenging, but not unfairly hard. Worked really well with a Logitech Wingman stick. Gameplay could get touchy if it didn’t like your video card.
Anyone else see the cat watching down from the clouds?
*Mechwarrior 3* could be, in a way, considered a sequel to *Mech Commander*.
Mech Commander’s story was of a part of Operation Bulldog, tasked with engaging the Clan occupation zones in the Inner Sphere and to draw attention away from Task Force Serpent.
Mechwarrior 3’s story was of Task Force Seprent, a battlegroup sent deep into Smoke Jaguar territory to attack their homeworld of Huntress.
I remember playing multiplayer on 56k modem for hours and hours.
Back then there was no client side interpolation so you basically needed to shoot 2-3 mech lengths in front of your enemy to compensate for lag and hope the empty air you just shot is where the enemy was in the server’s perspective. Depending on whether your opponent was on DSL or dial up you’d need to adjust your lead distance.
Nowadays kids have the luxury of landing hits simply by directly aiming at their opponents. Amateurs.
This used to be my game…I remember configuring my mech load out for a heavy ‘one shot’ assault, all weapons firing (usually the leg so I can steal their gear) before overheating. lmao
Then just ran away until I can shoot again. Sometimes I’d sit on water for extra heat flush.
reactor online
I remember the snow level. I put on 10 ER large lasers, and was legging stuff before it could power up.
Then I hit alpha strike because I wanted to see how much heat it generated.
Found out real quick that it generated enough heat to overload everything completely and leave a crater.
I want Chromehounds 2….
Brings back memories! My 1st online game with my own team. We were called BOS (Brotherhood Of Steels)
I played Heavy Gear 2. I don’t know why I liked it better
Where my starseige homies at tho
MW5 Mercs is pretty great. I play it all the time with my brother, should check it out. My fav has to be AC/20 burst fire builds. Go with a king crab, dual ac/20 burst fire, awwww yeah.
MW4 is my shit
Reactor: Online
Sensors: Online
Weapons: Online
All systems nominal.
Man, I can still feel this game! Used to play it with a force feedback joystick and it was amazing as a kid! Thump thump thump.
Vox Machinae is also a wonderful mechwarrior experience in VR. Controls, sound, and attention to detail is all great.
We used to play it on lunch break at work. Good times until I modified a mech to carry two AC-20s which gave a knockdown to my boss every time. After that the multiplayer rule was no AC-20s
Then we played carmageddon 2.
YES!
I salvaged the Orion near the end of the first few missions the very first time I played- I drove that fucker straight to the endgame.
By the way, did anyone else make the super fast firefly and boogie so hard that your game crashed?
Probably totally spelling it wrong “Dahasi” also “Thor” and “Supernova” damn “Bushwacker” annhilrateor”. Loved the game. Vulture too.
between this and the superscope post ya’ll are really lighting up my brain with the nostalgia feels. just need someone to post about finding a dusty but working 386 in their attic with dig dug on a floppy
Look at the bright side, kid. You get to keep all the money!
Fuck yes! MechWarrior 2 and 3 hold a very special place in my heart.
I grew up with Mechwarrior I fucking love these games dude, Mechassault was great too.
My favourite thing to do in 3 was strip the mechs of everything and try to make it go as fast as it could, you’d be able to reach doomguy speeds with the firefly lol.
Wish we could get a gog release or something with these games :/
Shoving 17 LRM20s into an Annihilator was great. Just don’t alpha strike or you’ll cook off.
Fun story.
Had a Windows 95 PC. I got a copy of mechwarrior 3 for Christmas. Played the hell out of it on DirectX 3.
We got a Windows 2000 computer a few years later, and I installed MechWarrior 3 on that computer. That computer had directX 10. I started playing the game and realized that all those years I had been playing in slow motion because of the DirectX card.
I loved enabling all the cheats and strapping 10 ERPPCs to Annihilator or Daishi, and jump jets
My family (and extended family) were at the hospital once waiting for my dad to go through surgery. We brought a switch and 3 laptops playing a LAN game for the whole day. It was great to have a LAN party in the waiting room. Made the time pass by so fast. This is the only game we played the whole time.
One of my all time favorites! Going from region to region, having the movile field base follow you around. Even the mission briefings felt special.
That game is just utter shit
This game has so many memories. Used to play it with a force feedback controller. I wish they still made them to play mech 5 with.
Had an annihilator with as many flamer as possible called “The cook” that would just vaporize mechs in one shot
I also remember falling into the death valley in the expansion.
There was also this transparent/fluid thing you could clip into with jump jets on one of the pirates moon maps
