I’ll admit, I wasn’t actually expecting this to be serious simply bc I saw a kid in the thumbnail but damn. It takes huge guts and willpower to make art like this in midst of such a crisis, not to mention talent. Incredible.
Ohh, that’s full on goosebumps. Him trying to lie to his sister and knowing he’s lying. He’s too little to have the age to be spitting this heavy fire. I love the song but I’d rather he be teabagging people on fortnight and thinking he’s clever getting extra candy from grandma (but it’s those strawberry ones.)
Good for him taking this route of expression and action. This should be on the mainstream news. At the end of the day whatever your politics and opinions on foreign policy, something needs to be done for kids like him — who are completely innocent of wrong doing.
You won’t get a clearer message, this 12 year old kid is pleading for compassion from the individuals in the planes dropping the bombs, and from us around the world and on the otherside of the wall. He’s not responding with hatred, he’s asking for compassion that’s it.
Holy shit. I was irritated a few minutes ago because the drive through was taking too long.
Smack in the face by reality. We all need a paradigm shift every now and then.
This is the first time a rap song has made me feel anything ^(like that) since the 90s!
Edit: Added the word like that to be more clear. It’s more about how similar this is to a lot of early rap about life growing up in the ghettos. Similar feel.
Abdul’s pen is hotter than 90% of these rappers out here and he’s writing in a foreign language while bombs are getting dropped on his shit. Get the kid a green card, put him in the Bronx to let him simmer for a few years and we all benefit from his first LP. The flowww
EDIT: No more “anotha one”s until this kid is safe ok DJ?
A lot of artists that try to do “conscious” rap end up coming off as corny or preachy, but this kid managed to rap about a serious subject matter without it sounding like a cliche or patronizing. Kudos to him.
Wow. Damn I wish Reddit still gave free awards out, ’cause I would give this mine.
Kid has an incredible talent, I like rap a lot and man that ‘all of a sudden’ spit was clean. As for the subject matter. Geez. The human capacity to process and deal with trauma and keep moving is unmatched, unrivalled. ‘Even though this house could be my grave’ is a line I will probably think about for a while.
The world’s fucked up when you think about it. Try not to think about it.
Haunting, but one hell of a flow.
I remember seeing this when it was first posted.
Incredible talent and incredible depressing
Jesus. That brought tears to my eyes. Poor kid has gone through so much violence and death.

12 years old & Not at all powerless.

How can anyone deny him that?
