Man sues City of Albuquerque after pitbull attack on city bus

  • Why is there zero focus on the man with a dog that attacks other dogs. Like, shouldn’t he be arrested? That pit bull could kill someone. It could kill a child instantly. WTF? Hello?

  • so how do I avoid being in the same situation as the driver at my job? If someone tells me their dog is a service animal and makes up some ridiculous task, even if I know its not true, I cant refuse. All I can do is hope no such incident happens. Its like society set up two incompatible rules, but will still penalize someone if something goes wrong.

  • It’s shocking how many people who shouldn’t own pitbulls own them and are delusional about their violent nature.

I saw a post on /r/ireland a few weeks ago about someone with a severe depression looking to rehome their dog that they hadn’t brought for a walk in over a year since that’s how long since they’d left their apartment. They insisted that the dog was totally safe for a new owner.

Any time someone tried to say that such a dog would be dangerous for anyone else to look after, especially after being confined for so long, they lost the plot and reported and blocked them. They were in complete denial both over the nature of pit bulls and the extent that they had abused their own dog. It was honestly scary to see someone with that mentality.

What’s worse was all the people defending them. Some because of the mental state of OP, which is understandable, but many who jumped in to insist that pit bulls are perfectly safe dogs. No amount of data would convince them. Even data showing that the majority of all fatal dog attacks involve dogs that are full or even mixed with pit bull. They would just dismiss it because it was inconvenient. Just scary.

  • Mentally ill, homeless, and/or drug addicted person with a pit bull that is clearly not a service animal and has a rope around him instead of a proper leash…totally shocked this ended in an attack /s.

I dodged a non-neutered pit bull at the park today in my town. It’s not worth the risk of my dogs getting killed by a breed that was made solely to fight and kill.

I wish pits and their derivatives were removed from the gene pool. They are responsible for far too many of the vicious attacks.

  • Dude, there just needs to be a unified system across the country where service animals are trained and verified and certified. If you don’t have that for an animal, you can’t bring it in a store or on a bus or whatever. If you have a fake one on the internet like people use now as “proof” they need their dog with them, it’s like $5,000 fine.

  • These dogs kill. People talk all this shit about how friendly they are and how sweet, but they kill. It’s not about the upbringing and it’s not about the training. Does that help, sure, but these dogs are built like few others. If a poodle bites a kid, that kid gets stitches, if a pit bites a kid, that kid dies.
This apologist enablist bullshit is gross.
I have a pit, by the way, and I’ve had it since it was a pup. Professional training, stuck to it. Rules, regimine, exercise. Loving household. It attacked and killed our other dog, out of nowhere, that it had grown with for some time.

  • A new trend in America where dog owners, are grossly distorting the definition of service animal or blatantly lying about. Ordinary dogs are present in many places they would have previously been restricted, for better or worse. As the number of untrained dogs [that reflect the temperament of their owners] increase, the likelihood of something going wrong will go through the roof.

  • They are expecting a lot out of their bus drivers. Bus drivers don’t have PhD’s and it is probably a low wage job. He was supposed to allow one dog on, but not accept the second dog. This is one problem with service animals; anybody can claim that their animal is a service animal. Why expect a bus driver to handle a situation like this?

  • I love how the bus guy violated policy, because he respected the federal ADA policy. If he were to ask details about the disability or the services, to a disabled individual, he would have set the city up to be sued! SMH Also, I don’t think my focus would have been to keep that dog and owner around the scene. Like yes, its important for the police report, but due is one man and he needed to tend to the injured.

  • It seems unfair the bus driver is being penalized. He asked if it was a service animal and the crazy homeless guy with a pitbull says yes. The homeless guy should be found and jailed and his dog put down.
