I wonder if this works like capsaicin. It turns the nerve for a sense on and sticks to it. If so that would explain why it get smeller the less of it there is. You are smelling more other things more intense. Maybe you could create a super blend with other stuff.
To this day the worst thing I have ever smelled was an advertisement in Electronic Gaming Monthly for Earthbound. The ad was on a thicker weight paper with a scratch and sniff section. It was fucking putrid. Ruined the entire magazine.
How the hell do these chemists find this stuff? They go through all that to make the trithioacetone, then they do something completely different to it to make the thioacetone.
I think Nigel actually has something wrong with his sense of smell. He should do a video where he does some kind of formalized smell test to see if he is just good with bad smells or if he is the smell equivalent of legally blind.

That was disturbingly easy to make. If you got a canister of hydrogen sulfide you could mess up a city block with basic equipment. All the extra work here is about purifying it.
