This is step one in my quest to obtain attack crows. If I ever find myself in danger, crows fly down and harass the attacker from above. Then I can run away. They will remember what the attacker looks like and will always harass them on sight from there on.
A few months ago I found an old black and white photo of one of my wife’s relations with a crow sitting on her shoulder – clearly she had made friends with it. I’ve finally found a crow that lives on a roof a few houses away from ours and I would really like to make friends with it. I’ll follow the advice in this video.
I have crows living on my property. I wish they’d go away. Here in Australia, Crows don’t sound pretty. They basically fly around screaming “FUUUCCCCCKKKK” all the time. That’s exactly what it sounds like. “FUUUUUCCCKK FUUUUUUUCCKK”. Must suck to be a Crow in Australia. Don’t blame them really, it’s bloody hot here.
So ive been regularly feeding my crows for like 2.5+ years… they come and wake us up sometimes (especially if I get up to pee after dawn has…whatever dawn does when it starts), come and “caw” loudly on the fence, house & trees, they eat the peanuts I put out there, they come asking for food when we leave or come back home or let the dog out quite often, & my wife is upset at the size of my “peanut budget”…yet they’ve never brought me anything & only a couple will hangout within a 10-15 feet of me… now there’s a kid down the street trying to train them so they don’t come around daily… fucking kid
One of my goto things to do when outside is to suddenly stop and stare at birds just doing their thing. what seems like automatic behavior is suddenly stopped and the bird will become aware that you are in fact paying close attention to it. some freak out, others stare back and wait, some come closer, others let their friends know and stare together.
The murder of crows that lives in my neighborhood has adopted me. I’ve thrown them enough food out my bedroom windows that they now drop shiny things in front of me when I walk outside. They’re really great friends.
Please don’t hand-feed birds. It makes them associate humans with food. There’s a popular hiking trail where I live, and due to people hand feeding the whiskyjacks in order to make social media posts of the birds landing on them, the birds there will now aggressively hassle people unless fed.
Wild animals like this are not people, they are not your friends, they are just food conditioned.
Been doing this for a few years now. They love dog kibble and will guard it fiercely from squirrels or other birds. One crow in particular that I named Randy, likes to bring me gifts. They’re usually pieces of plastic toys or bottle caps. Sometimes, food from somewhere else. I pretend to eat it and then put it in my pocket.
My gran raised a jackdaw (like a small crow) after it fell through the chimney. She let it free when it was trying to fly but it came back and always did. She used to go walks with it on her shoulder or on my dads pram. Friends until the day it died. I believe it was called Jackie, Jackie the Jackdaw
I talk about this all the time when I heard they can bring you “gifts”. Goal of mine to befriend some crows.

I’m so embarrassed. My wife heard me watching this.
“In this video, I want to show you how to make friends…. With a wild crow.”
She’s never looked at me like this before. What do I do.

1) Offer food
2) Be patient
3) By them a drink
4) Ask them if they want to watch a movie
5) Let them choose the movie
6) Slip into “something more comfortable”
7) Be discrete. Crows prefer to keep their personal details private.
retitle suggestion:
how to feed birds
A crow tried to make friends with me. Unfortunately its idea of making friends is to attack my head.

These steps work on me too.
Just sayin’
Here’s the thing. You said a “jackdaw is a crow”.
Is it in the same family? Yes. No one’s arguing that.
An oldie but a goodie…

Step 1: Get sent to the Wall in the North

I got a nice group of “goth chickens” that come by my house and I feed them occasionally…they are rad.

So you can fight like a Crow!
