*Lost* had such an amazing ability of introducing main cast members season after season who became just so damn iconic in their own right. Sure, there was the Nikki/Paulo situation*, but season two introduced Desmond, Ben, Eko; season three brought in Juliet; four brought in Miles, Faraday, Frank, etc…
When I think of *Lost*, I’m not *just* thinking of Jack and Locke and Sawyer and Kate and all the rest of the season one characters, but *all* of the ones who joined along the way — it’s a testament to the show’s strengths that they could bring in new major characters over and over again who almost all felt so *natural* to what the show was without them overshadowing the original characters or it feeling like, “We’re introducing Desmond and now it’s entirely his show because he’s popular.” They all got to shine, and I’ll always love that about the show.
* – and even with the Nikki/Paulo situation, I’d argue they’re still iconic in their own way in terms of the show *because* I can call it “the Nikki/Paulo situation” and most everyone would know what I mean, and they sure as hell got one hell of a great send-off.
Single best episode of Lost. Ask any Lost fan their favorite, and this one is damn near the top of every list. The fact that it involves a secondary character with barely any of the main cast just goes to show how great it was. This was the moment that Lost REALLY dug into their sci fi aspects.
Problems with the ending aside, this show had a fantastic lead up. It really started the online theorycrafting forum trend. Folks were on every week with podcasts and webposts putting stuff together.
rewatched binged lost recently and it holds up extremely well. Even though I knew major plot points i still was glued to the screen most of the time. Could have been easily released today as an HBO flagship series and contend with GoT numbers
“The Constant” is probably the greatest episode of television I’ve ever seen. Certainly the best one I watched as or very shortly after it initially aired.
I’m not the only one who thinks that, BTW. *The Ringer* named it the greatest TV episode of the 21st century. Damon Lindelof once said it’s the greatest thing he’s ever written (although he said that awhile back so IDK if he still thinks that or not).
I LUV YA PENNY
Man, so sad.
I still cry
Best Christmas special of television ever
Lost is something special…what were the numbers? 4,8,16,23,42 i think.

Just an incredible scene. I lost my collective shit when she answered.
He looks like a black guy wearing a bad wig in the thumbnail lol
Unpopular opinion: I couldn’t care any less about Desmond and Penny. To this day I still don’t see what was so special about them.

Desmond was my favorite character. His relationship/ability with the island was interesting

Honestly, this might have been the best episode of the series and I would say a top 10 candidate of best episodes of TV.

This show must have made me cry about 100 times. Helps that Michael Giacchino was powerhousing his way to fame at the time.
Giacchino is a master. The score in this scene gets me every time.
This was my favorite show and for the life of me I can’t remember the context of this scene at all
Penny. Oh Penny. She’s purty.

My wife and I met through a Lost fansite. A decade later we named my daughter Penelope partly because of this episode!
Any RB losties?
One of the best episodes of television I’ve ever seen. Just perfection.
Desmond is my favorite character. From how he was introduced, to how he changed throughout the series. He was a real one.

Desmond is the adult version of the White Ranger.
I have yet to find a show that has taken over my life as much as this one did
After all these years I still get chills watching this scene. I cared about these characters so much.
Lost also made TV soundtrack amazing. Life and Death still makes me cry.
now i am crying.
Had a friend who named her daughter Penny from Lost. But they also named their son Ethan. Go figure.
Desmond was my fave for sure
