Red Dead Redemption 2
Uncharted 1-4 and Lost Legacy
Last Of Us
cyberpunk 2077
or if you’re brave enough, dark souls 1-2-3 and Sekiro (Elden Ring of course)
Horizon and it’s sequel are lots of fun.
I got a ps4, vr (quest 2), pc, and switch so any game but xbox really
The entire Yakuza series or Dark souls series

If you’re on PlayStation, God of War, Spider-Man, Ghost of Tsushima are GREAT. I’d recommend Red Dead Redemption II if you haven’t played yet, best story game I’ve ever played. I’ve been playing Elden Ring the past few weeks, but it’s not really the same

Trails of cold steel! Many sequels, many other stories.
Very gut wrenching story, it’s long, and has a good learning curve.
Baldurs Gate 2. It’s rated one of the best games ever for a reason.
Over 1000 hours in Skyrim and still haven’t seen everything

if you really want story play Life is Strange.
Try Homeworld
Death Stranding. Got lost in that game for 60+hours. Incredible storyline.
Elden Ring
Kingdoms of amular has some good lore and story(ies), the replayability is nice too
Whatever you do; do not buy Death Stranding and Red Dead Redemption 2 and Cyberpunk too. They are the most boring games ever made

Horizon Forbidden West, since it wastes a lot of your time with story.
The Metro series has a pretty good story and atmosphere.
Persona 5 this game will at least take 100 hours to finish
The world ends with you,
Firewatch and What Remains of Edith Finch. They’re somewhat similar in being walking simulators driven by story. I was blown away by both.

I just beat the game Chernobylite. Classic “find hour wife game” but the lore and story is actually very good. A FPS set in Chernobyl and Pripyat, a strange substance has taken over the lands. Stalkers and Dark Tourists have come to these lands to make a profit. Scientists came to learn. You have learned how to harness this new material to create a device that allows you to travel through a multidimension. You must build a team and manage the teams needs via base building and then set off on missions to acquire resources and learn new story elements. Your goal is to have a perfect team to preform the “heist” on a power plant where your wife is held. Every death, you enter this dimension that allows you to change past choices made during missions. Did you kill a guy you needed later? After death, you can go back and change the past. Very cool game.
