God forbid the day Borderlands actually has working stealth mechanics in it, we’re getting close to that day since Borderlands 3 has working suppressors on certain guns, most notably ones made by Dahl.
The inverse of this is true as well. “Hey! Been having fun in this open world exploration game? That’s great. Now slowly move through this mind numbingly slow stealth section, and if you get caught, you got start all over. We’ve also included an unskippable cuscene, just so you remember the weak plot reason you’re doing this.’
I hate when games have tacked on shitty stealth. I’ve recently played the uncharted series for the first time. I’m currently at the end of the second. They’re great games, but it’s just one of those games that have shit stealth mechanics. It never really works and it’s always just a matter of time before you get detected for no reason. I just hate when games do that.
There are many contenders, but no game has more blatantly said “fuck our own game mechanics” than Mirror’s Edge, the original. I love the game, I think it did a lot of great things and helped push parkour gameplay, but there are some blatant sections toward the end where they just say, multiple times, that they don’t want you enjoying yourself anymore.
Reminds me of the original Hitman Codename 47. It’s a trial and error stealth game but for some reason it had 2 levels where you’re supposed to play it like a shooter. Whitch it wasn’t designed for so it just feels like ass to play because you die in like 2 hits.
Ive been sneaking in games for as long as I can remember, for some reason playing Ghost of tsushima when they were pushing stealth I wanted to be more in their face, like I’m here and I will kill all of you while your friends watch. It awoke something in me, Now I’m onto Cyberpunk 2077 and I went with in your face full cyber psycho mode and its absolutely so much more rewarding going in and raising hell. I almost hate myself for not playing games this way sooner.

Boss fights in Deus Ex: Human Revolution was all sorts of that.
What is this? Reverse day? Time travel moves a chair?

Batman and Spiderman are especially aggravating here.
I’m the exact opposite. I despise stealth.

Nobody will notice if there’s no one to notice

Tomb raider:
Stealth? Why would I do that?
(Guns blazing)

Felt this most in Death Stranding. Im just a delivery man delivering packages, screw you Im not facing off against an entire regiment.
Although there are quite a few games with forced stealth that dont work. Modern games have gotten alot better with rudimentary stealth mechanics.
“said no one ever”
Lol assassins creed origins with RPG elements.. it all started going downhill from there
Every Far cry game ever.
Stealthing the camps is the best part, just perching yourself on a cliff overlooking a compound with a silencer on your strongest rifle.
Stop playing the game wrong ~ Devs
Me seeing Stealth: Welp time to fail alot
