I remember the original triangle face Lara. Definitely a pinnacle of my childhood. I remember having dreams about her tucking me into bed (probably stemming from mommy issues at a young age). I don’t remember what specific game it was but you could run around her mansion and there was things to collect and I’d remember spending hours in her pool room trying to make the jumps to get to the hidden items/locations. If any one remembers which game it was I would be appreciative. Pretty sure it was PS2.

I like how people who never actually played the games just see her breasts and think that’s all there is to her. If you played the games, she has a lot decent character traits and personality. She’s not exactly a super hero and virtuous. She’s a good person, but she’s also a stone cold killer and..well…a tomb raider. Obsessed with finding the truth and all that stuff.
It’s only when those remakes came out that people started paying attention to the character and not her looks. You can have a sexy character and have it still be complex and interesting. That’s what was great about Lara. It’s why she’s remembered but other characters of the time weren’t. You can grab the attention easily with a character that looks like this, but without any substance, you can’t retain it. it’s the same with a character like Bayonetta.
Let’s also not forget, male characters were advertised this way too. No shirts, bulging muscles etc. There’s nothing wrong with admiring the human body. If you don’t, then you’re abnormal.
