Based on the way its crushed, I suspect this is a pressure/vacuum type thing. Possibly very hot or near boiling water was put into the feeder then when it cooled it created a vacuum and crushed the plastic.
The only other idea is that they had it near a glass window that reflects a lot of light and focused the sun on it like a magnifying glass. To get to the temperatures needed to melt the plastic would also be close if not over the temps to boil the water inside. I do see bubbles but the plastic would be expanding from the vapor not shrinking.
Hey I forget where, but I heard that the red dye is really bad for hummingbirds and they do not need it to be attracted. There are numerous home recipes you can make if you look them up.
Be careful with these feeders when it is hot. They can burn the hummingbirds tongue with scalding water. In nature they don’t have to check to see if a flower is hot enough to melt plastic…
What happened is some water turned into steam expanding and pushing water out the feeder, and when it got colder it created a vacuum inside and “imploded it” you should be able to blow in it and give it back it’s shape, rofl.
Consider buying a bird feeder that’s not from the dollar store. That plastic at that temperature has long since broken down and leeched into the mixture, and will continue to do so. No reason to be giving the hummingbirds plastic contaminated food.
Sooo.. how hot is that delicious sugar water inside? Is it even safe to have out if it’s hot enough the plastic has softened? Would it potentially harm the birds tongue if they tried to drink from it?
What is that sex toy exactly, feel I should recognise it but don’t quite
I call bullshit. We live in Texas and have the same feeder and it is just fine at 103°

Looks kinda like a dick
Can confirm, it was 46C where my brother lives in NS.

Coolest dildo I’ve ever seen.

Can confirm that it’s brutal, went to put my deodorant on the other day and it was melted, leaking out of the cover.
The irony is that anecdotal evidence of impending doom is becoming more frequent. Most of us are just pretending that it is another funny meme.
*laughter in Arizona*
Holy moly.
During heat wave last year in BC, I think several people posted photos of them baking cookies in the car while at work.
Many people at work got lots of cookies baked that summer.
Wow, your hummingbirds in Canada must be whoppers to implode the feeder by socking hard!
*laughs in Florida, US*

Hummingbirds LOVE Sriracha.
Well that’s new, usually only the cold does that.
lol, I don’t think it melted.

You have a Chihuly? Classy
That or your hummingbirds really suck.

Humans first. We’ll fill the birds with microplastics later.
Some Cialis should fix it

Cause that must be some heat.
I hope it’s the container that is red, and not the contents. Just be aware that red sugar water is bad for hummingbirds.
*Sung in PSA jingle format* Global Warming
Sus
had that exact model do that last week as well
We have this exact feeder lol
i think i would’ve died if i’d stayed outside yesterday
