I had both of those. One of them had a feature that let you create your own MIDI ringtone. I promptly composed a Nokia version of the theme song from Knight Rider, and Axel F from Beverly Hills Cop.
I started with a Motorola Star-Tac. So, I am also old.
The Nokia 5165 has always been and will always be the best phone ever. It just fucking worked. Thing was bomb-proof. If they made one with navigation and spotify I’d dump what I have and run to buy one.

The OG unrestricted interwebs was the best. Upgraded from my Nokia to the Motorola Razr. That phone wasn’t as indestructible, but it did take a shitload of abuse without shattering like it’s modern counterparts. Man, I miss Limewire something fierce

Not really. My first cellphone was a giant brick. And my friends before that had just car phones. You could take it out of the car but only if you carried the giant battery pack with it.
I showed mine to my middle school class as examples of an artifact. They couldn’t get pat the idea of hitting the same button 3 times to get to the letter you needed for texting.
