John Candy was one of the best comical actors of the 80-90s. Unfortunately The Great Outdoors was a soso comedy, it was the only time John Candy and Dan Aykroyd shared top billing. One of the best scenes in the movie is when the bear gets its ass blistered by a shotgun blast!
My family, for years, called terrible pizza “goat cheese pizza” until, on a fateful trip, we finally had it. Then we just spent a night laughing about how great this movie was. 🩷
I feel like this movie is under appreciated, and this photo is awesome but at the same time it’s super sad. I know they didn’t have any on screen time together but I always think back to being a little kid and watching them in blues brothers. “Orange whip?!”

He ain’t done yet.
My grandparents loved this movie! Everytime I stayed over at their house we would watch this movie together. “Big bear! Big bear chase me!”
I watch this movie at least once a year. Such a great movie
Their body weights swapped since then.
“I just see trees”
My family, for years, called terrible pizza “goat cheese pizza” until, on a fateful trip, we finally had it. Then we just spent a night laughing about how great this movie was. 🩷
Aykroyd was 35 in this picture. People used to look so much older than they were compared to present day.

One of the best movies 🍿 🤙✌️👏✊
Yaaaas!! I just watched Uncle Buck with those big ass pancakes 😂
Sadly the bar/lodge that is featured in this movie burned down shortly after the movie wrapped.
It was the original location of Ducey’s on the Lake in Bass Lake, Ca.
They had a special premiere of the movie there prior to the property burning down due to a grease fire.
You can still see some of the original movie props in the Bar and Grill at the rebuilt resort further down the lake.
A dynamic duo, only Farley and Spade could compete.
John Candy is good in everything he’s in. We lost him way too early. What a legend.
Damn I had forgot about that movie. I suddenly remember almost having a stroke I laughed so hard.
I still miss John Candy.
Go find yourself a spin cycle
Best movie ever
Canada has produced some great comedians
Gone too soon John Candy.
Love this movie
I saw their cabin on the Universal Studios backlot tour and gasped out loud. No one else seem to care as much as I did. Whatever, I love this movie!
A Pontoon boat? What are ya going do? Retake Omaha Beach?
