Joe pretends that he’s not been against a lot of stuff that’s come out of the pandemic. Bill Burr laughed at him for him saying he wasn’t going to wear a mask.
Joe definitely has a stance on these things, he doesn’t just interview experts with different points of view (which he does do), but he has a strong option on these topics which he likes gets across.
He’s been wrong on a lot of things in the past, someone posted a video compilation on here before with all the dumb things he’s said.
Fuck Joe Rogan. I don’t care how hard he tries to appear thoughtful or balanced, he’s a piece of shit who would kill all of his fans to make another dollar.
So idk what happened, but I looked up the doctors he had on the show, and they seem legit. Also what he said about what was once considered misinformation being accepted as fact is also true.
I don’t watch his podcast except when he talks about psychedelics, so I’m not just a fan defending him, but it seems like there’s a ton of bots on reddit attacking him. Or just people who worship science instead of having a scientific mindset.
Only made it to about the 3 minute mark when he started doubling down. Incomplete, irrelevant and out of context facts don’t contribute one bit to presenting things in a thoughtful and balanced way. It’s worse than lying, and it is something people do that only care about being right, and not actually finding the truth or learning something.
If anything, the constant controversy surrounding his show highlights just how fractured American society is with respect to the simple act of dialoguing with people who have different opinions than you.
It also highlights just how dogmatic and defensive people are about their personal politics. I’m not surprised to see so much hate this early into this thread… it’s a scary future we’re headed down.
And he gets it wrong again. Cloth masks when thick enough, not knock gaiters were helpful stopping spread of less contagious variants. Just because omnicron is more contagious does not mean it was ineffective for other strains.
The lack of knowledge is the reason why people should error on the side of caution.
He is just so out of his league. I don’t have issue bringing on dissident views, but at least study up enough to ask some good questions.
Rogan was clueless how to ask an intelligent question to Peterson on his nonsensical rant about climate models. It is a shame.
I stopped watching when he got into the Neil Young story, but near the beginning he said that in the past you’d be banned for saying “if you get the vaccine you can still catch and spread COVID”. This is just not true, from when Pfizer announced its clinical trial results they said that it reduces the chances by 90-something%. By definition meaning you can still get it. I bet some of the other claims are overhyped.
Now it is true that the medical establishment has often fucked up in terms of saying that certain things are misinformation and then changing their tune, or other things like that. But there’s also some mythmaking on the part of the anti-vaxxers about how they’re bold truth-tellers and all that, when they spend a lot of time ignoring contrary views and substituting conspiracy theories for confronting contrary evidence.
Plus the screwups from the medical establishment can’t hold a candle to the epic lies and bullshit coming from the antivaxxer, Ivermectin, “it’s just the flu” crowd who spew random BS with 0 accountability.
As for what is appropriate here, I’m not against people wanting to get of Spotify if Rogan is on it, but I also don’t think that sort of thing will affect Rogan spreading misinformation, and I worry about it playing in to anti vaxxers’ conspiracy theories.
I made it like two minutes before stopping here. He’s speaking like a reasonable person but what he’s saying is disingenuous bullshit.
You’d be banned from social media for saying you don’t think cloth masks work? For starters, no you wouldn’t. More importantly, you’re conflating people who point out that cloth masks aren’t as good as N95s with people who refused to wear masks in general. That’s stupidly disingenuous.
I used to enjoy the show for a while, but eventually got turned off by the repetition often going on in the arguments. I think two of the main problems that Joe doesn’t seem to understand is that:
a) Even if he gives equal time to different opinions, he does so for the 10.000 researchers on one side vs. the 1 disagreeing researcher on the other, which often implies both sides are equally researched and equally supported in the scientific community and
b) often doesn’t challenge bad takes on the show as he doesn’t want to be impolite to guests or because he himself isn’t knowledgeable enough about the topic to do so, which lends unrealistic credibility to these people.
This often leads to wildly incorrect representation of the state of research and opinions about a topic, giving unbalanced amounts of credibility to fringe theories. While I agree that there are sometimes theories that are further proven as correct, they are outright wrong many more times and even in the listed examples, having them “on a cover” in left-leaning media doesn’t suddenly make it a scientific fact.
“I am interested in having conversations with people who have different opinions”
Says the fucking clown who talks over people, berates people, belittles people with a fucking PhD and pretends to know more than everyone else around him.
In his examples of “what was misinformation last year compared to now” he mentions face masks, getting covid after being vaccinated and such.
Thing is, Those statements were only misinformation when used in context of a narrative. For example, the only people who were saying “masks aren’t 100% effective” last year were people who didn’t (and still don’t) wear a fucking mask out of courtesy.
In the same way, people who said “vaccines aren’t 100% effective” was a popular soundbyte used by every anti-vaxxer. Nothing is 100% effective – But the science ***proves*** vaccines reduce the severity. The science ***proves*** masks reduce transmission.
What Joe Rogan does is he brings people on who he agrees with, asks them leading questions that bring his beliefs into light and then praises them.
When he brings people on he doesn’t agree with, he’s sarcastic – mocking, dismissive and often rude.
I like how this thread is being down voted as if it was posted by Joe Rogan himself.
Literally shooting the messenger here.
Y’all realize that Reddit will bury posts that are low scoring? There would be plenty of people curious if Joe ever had a response to this but would never know simply because the information never crossed their feed.
What you should do is go over to YouTube and thumbs down the video directly……oh wait.
So, what do people think removing him from Spotify will actually do?
Should that actually happen, they will probably have to pay out his contract. Then Rogan just turns the RSS feed back on, and Adam Curry will set him up on Podcasting 2.0, which would be the biggest signal boost Podcasting 2.0 could ask for. Now Rogan is even more so “forbidden fruit” and his popularity will do nothing but increase.
The problem with Joe is that he doesn’t acknowledge his influence. He acts like just “some guy” with a little podcast and he’s just trying to talk. Motherfucker, your reach is incredible. Spotify didn’t give you a huge contract because you have this little quaint podcast. Like it or not, he’s become a juggernaut in the Podcast world with millions listening.
Beyond that, he doesn’t acknowledge is audience. A lot of these millions of listeners are young and impressionable, with what seems to be an alt-right leaning. Not all, but read the comment sections of his videos. It’s filled with right-wing idealism. In some old times, this right wing/conservative view might have been fine, but it’s now become toxic and puts out constant misinformation. Joe doesn’t acknowledge this at all. The fact that his crowd of followers aligns with Alex Jones should tell you something, and he doesn’t say anything about it.
I used to listen to Joe quite a bit. Cryptoids, aliens, and space stuff in general. Hell, those were great. If you’ve listened, he’s stopped believing in a lot of those things, and that might be the bad turn he’s had. He’s said he’s interviewed so many people about these things, he now sees it’s mostly crazy people. Including the moon landing, in which he now thinks is real. I think that skepticism has hurt him. He’s a conspiracy guy at heart, so now he’s searching for that in other areas he has no business in. Space aliens? Cool. Deep state? Not great timing for today’s climate.
In general, Podcast hosts need to stay out of politics. A LOT of people need to stay out of politics. It’s just too “hot” right now and any political views are going to fall on a “side” now, and people are pretty upset if you end up on the wrong side. You make people take a stand, like Neil Young and Joni Mitchell. People have to show they don’t agree with you, because you took a stand and one people don’t agree with.
Joe and Spotify will learn. They lost a lot of valuation because of this, so if you think this is JUST a response from Joe and he’s being introspective. No, Spotify told him to get his shit together. They’re paying him a lot and losing a lot because of him. I would expect to see some change.
He is on an entertainment podcast. He is not in charge of the WHO or CDC (at least one if not both have fairly chequered histories recently).
The whole idea that we can’t have dissenting ideas voiced on a podcast is completely laughable. Hell, if any idea is “dangerous”, banning dissenting voices is a lot closer than an apparent anti-vaxer who actually DID say that vulnerable people SHOULD get vaccines. In fact, that is the only thing he has said that people should do, that I have heard.
Great response. Fuck Neil Young and Joni Mitchell for fighting against free speech. I would say the same to Joe Rogan if he tried to get them cancelled.
If Joe Rogan is the new trump and should be banned from all platforms what other podcast or news sources who have the long form conversation with the variety of guests would one recommend ?
It’s crazy to me how many people would get on their hands and knees for a ministry of truth. God forbid people think for themselves and ask questions of any sort. It’s fucking laughable.
“But the dis-info is killing people!!!” Bitch, diet coke kills more people then dis-information, bunch a fatty ass smokers out there eating the worst fast fake foods but it’s the big bad germs that’ll get’ya. Fucking please lol
Buy some NyQuil and fuck off if your out there getting off on lockdowns and mandates or screaming at normal unmasked people, fucking stalking people through Walmart isles, you all look like Donald Sutherland, pointing and squealing.
>8 month ago if you said ‘if you get vaccinated you can still get covid and still spread covid’ you would be removed from social media
Is he serious? He is still trying to balance bro-science misinformation against other bro-science misinformation in his apology?! It’s still a strawman argument! Never have I heard any respectable scientist represent such a stupid statement about not being able to catch covid when vaccinated. That was clear from the beginning of covid. That is not new information and nobody cares about the boomer facebook bubble! Does he even want to apologize for representing a shit bias in his argumentum ad populum style talkshow?
He is still doing what the problem was in the first place – in his apology!
Joe. Take a break – Listen and learn. Look for new buddies! But this apology is so whack! I turned it off after this pathetic quote.
Joe taking a step back.. Did Joe get a talkin’ to..
Joe Rogan is the new Alex Jones. If he wants to correct something, start with that mangled booby trap he calls a mouth.
Joe pretends that he’s not been against a lot of stuff that’s come out of the pandemic. Bill Burr laughed at him for him saying he wasn’t going to wear a mask.

This interview looks like it was done in the parking lot, outside of a building where he just had a meeting.
So idk what happened, but I looked up the doctors he had on the show, and they seem legit. Also what he said about what was once considered misinformation being accepted as fact is also true.

I hate this dumb future where people who have actual media access decide that it is better to make public statements via Instagram or YouTube
Fuck Joe Rogan and everyone who defends him. He is a piece of shit.
This dude says things that are demonstrably wrong, and then absolutely shits on, talks over, and screams at people who call him out.
He’s worse than worthless.
Bro just tell people to get vaccinated and wear masks then you can talk about stoned ape theory or whatever other bullshit you want.

Haha he is so full of shit and you’re an idiot if you can’t see that.
Love reading the angry redditors cry about Rogan.

Joe Rogan is a national treasure.
Joe Biden is not my president.
ITT: Redditors who have never actually watched Joe Rogan, but hating on him because Reddit told them to

Guys, I know I suck as a podcaster, but let me also tell you how I’m the worst security guard ever…
Did he force Jamie to back him up?
“I’m interested in telling the truth”

Oh look it’s a bullshitting clown honking his nose again.
‘Chuck E.’s In Love’ was by Rickie Lee Jones. 😅

Good defense though. 👍
Get fucked, you hypertensive shitheel.

All you younglings bashing Joe and defending Neil Young lmao
Most of y’all don’t even know who Neil Young is, let alone are put into a burden from his songs being off of Spotify lol
I think if Joe dosn’t know shit about a subject; bring in an expert on the other side of the argument to fact check the guest.
Great, but it should be completely unnecessary.
He is on an entertainment podcast. He is not in charge of the WHO or CDC (at least one if not both have fairly chequered histories recently).
