Seeing this picture brings back a nice memory. I’ve told this story before, but it fits here I think:
In 1970, I was the general manager of my college’s radio station. The student union had a music program called “Coffee House” that would bring in “folk artists” (their term) every couple of weeks. One week it was Jim and Ingrid Croce.
In exchange for publicity, the station would get some free tickets to give away. That included an on-the-air interview with the talent. By luck of the draw, I was filling in the afternoon DJ slot that day and so I got to do the interview. Jim and his wife were two of the nicest folks I have ever met.
They were working the college circuit, driving from gig to gig in an old, worn-out car. After the interview they asked about a good place to eat. I took them to my favorite restaurant and had the nicest time just chatting over dinner.
Always feel so sad for him. Just gets married and has a kid. Then dies right before his career takes off and he gets to enjoy success. Also I think his guitarist friend died as well.

His music is so perfect for just getting calm like when driving or watching a sunset on a summer day. This brought the warmest smile to my face. Thank you for sharing.💙
She has an interesting face.
His wife looks like she could be his sister.
One of the greatest singer-songwriters of all time.
A woman and her baby, a man and his guitar.
You don’t tug on Superman’s cape
Operator…
Can’t believe I never heard of this guy until Django Unchained and X:men featured his music. Now I’m a huge fan!
“I’ve been up and down and around about and back again, found myself right back where I started again. “
I’ve got a song
And I carry it with me and I sing it loud
Him and Harry Chapin. The ultimate storysong writers.
Does anyone know where this picture was taken?

Don’t mess around with Jim.
Miss that guy!
Anyone know anything about his son?
His son AJ Croce, is also an amazing singer.
May his force ghost be riffing away.
Great picture, great talent, what a shame…
She operated an eponymously named restaurant in San Diego for decades and would personally greet you at the door.
The first two or three albums I bought were Jum Croce’s. Nearly 50 years later and they stand the test of time.
Jim Croce was the fucking man.
Beautiful guitar. Hard to believe he was only 30 when he died.
Hell of a songman, great tunes in bad times
Their kid had a full beard in first grade.
Great musician
His son AJ is probably one of my favorite musicians

How on earth is that a 28 year old
I remember when my older brother introduced me to Jim Croce’s music in the early 2000s. Such great song writing and music.
damn people always say I look like that guy. yeah, I do. never seen him before lol
I hadn’t thought about him in years, but this morning as I was waking up, he was on my mind and now here he is.
I loved the characters in his songs
“He’d drive a hundred thirty mile an hour smiling’ at the camera with a toothpick in his mouth”
