[Jeremy Fowler] Tua Tagovailoa is now at his home in South Florida, was in ‘good spirits’ upon landing with the team, per source. MRI to come, possibly second opinion. Initial tests showed no structural damage.

What does structural damage even mean? Nobody thinks he broke his neck. The brain isn’t “structural”, but it surely got bounced around in his skull.
Show us the CTE. He’s never going to be the same.
Just hope he’ll be the same Tua that he was before the injury and I don’t mean the same football player, I mean the same person
He got a mild concussion on top of an unhealed concussion that they’re claiming was a back injury. No matter how they try to whitewash this, he’s been significantly injured. And a double concussion like that can take years to heal if ever.
You can clearly tell he got concussed because of the classic fencer’s stance.
Pretty obvious the ‘doctors’ ‘cleared’ him to play by saying it was a back injury. No doubt they felt immense pressure, directly or indirectly by coaches and stakeholders to clear him.
You can’t reliably see diffuse axonal injury without MRI. So “no structural damage” is relative.
So you Sunday champ!
So I missed the original injury from last week, only caught the most recent one. I don’t know how you get cleared to play after the way he was falling down last week.
‘Structural Damage’ to his brain?
Shame on the nfl
What’s the point of having a whole-ass Concussion Protocol if they’re just gonna bypass it and let concussed players play?
Y’all better not put that man on the field again for months.
then again, they weren’t really concerned about any structural damage….
If this is what it looks like it is, the punishment has gotta be harsh enough to deter any team from ever doing this again. The level of risk to someone medically can’t be justified by a game, no matter how much money is involved. Like season forfeit kind of punishment
I’ve never heard the phrase ‘in good spirits’ be used on a person who isn’t seriously ill or hurt
Miami Dolphins doctors expect he’ll play next week
/s
Ahhh the good old “your head is still attached to your body so get out there and play” NFL mentality.
No structural damage, he just speaks fluent Spanish and thinks he’s a koala now.
NFL doctors screwed up last week and they know it. To save face, they went with “there is no concussion in ba-sing-se”. And if there was no concussion, there is no reason for him to sit this week.
his life could be ruined because the NFL was trying to save face from the previous week. Another bad choice to cover up the last. Its like Chernobyl but with a mans brain.
Such a relief, but I hope he has some wise words in his ear about taking the rest of the year off and seriously considering his options post football. The lingering effects from this could literally be lifelong.
Team Doctors have determined that the incipient cortical delamination and pre-parkinson’s micro tearing will just buff out.
This is yet another reason why I’m done with the NFL. The shitty suspensions for domestic abuse, the fact that teams have still given contracts to that douchy cockbag Antonio Brown while completely blackballing Kap, the blatant disrespect for their players’ well being.
Fuck them!
FYI: Concussions are not physical or structural damages. They are chemical and really fuck up how the brain operates. It takes a FUCK TON of energy to run the brain, during a TBI (traumatic brain injury) that energy need ramps up several fold. This is where some of the symptoms come from.
Also: Second Impact Syndrome. If one suffers a second concussion before the first one heals, really bad shit can happen.
Fuck whatever “independent” nuero they are using, they endangered a humans life for money.
it’s wild to see how the machine is working to minimize this. “no structural damage”, “nothing worse than a concussion”. like, a concussion is pretty fucking bad, especially one that triggers the fencing response.
In MMA if someone suffers a concussion they’re usually out for several months, 4 days in this case is absolutely wild
You know what? Passing the concussion protocol is the bare minimum. We need team leads with enough spine to err on the side of caution with any head injury. I don’t care if the coach doesn’t have an MD. Take the player out of the fucking game Sunday if it looks as bad as it did whether he makes it through protocol or not. This is a person’s life and livelihood. Fuck, he’s only 24, too. I don’t care if he WANTED to go back in.
And sure, you could claim this is a business and whatnot. When you have a business, YOU PROTECT YOUR ASSETS.
I’d be in good spirits too if the last thing I remembered was that I was gonna be playing LSU in the College Football Championship
Miami medical team needs to be investigated
I don’t care how the tests come back, the team doctor should lose his license
