Honestly there’s some great brands from around the world but to me nothing beats German engineering
Germans will always come up with solutions regardless if there even is a problem.
i very much doubt they will not be able to measure it. tom scott recently made a video where they were able to measure the effect of a camera stuck to the vehicle.
They’re talking about the first car with LED DLRs lol. Now every single car has them. They’re essentially the signature of a car these days. I’ve heard designers often start with the DRLs and design the rest of the front fascia around them.
Damn I miss top gear.. this version..
Who’s Andy?

Nice bangs honey
TIL Not all cars have day-runners
I love James May. He’s the one who’s always managed to get the biggest laugh out of me.
Hasn’t aged well. The joke only works when use of LED’s seems exotic and over-engineered.
I’m on the German’s side. Even if it is irrelevant for one car, why not make things better? In the aggregate, the amount of fuel it saves probably is measurable.
Whatever the comments are in respect of Germans, I herewith confirm all of them, greetings from Berlin Germany 🇩🇪

So what he’s saying is that the swedes are bad at maths?
those days are long behind us in germany.
German here: This is a very accurate description on a german car drivers mind.
Increased fuel consumption with lights on, automatic transmission evil.
Man, that was truly a special era – I was a freshman in college in 2004 when I discovered TG and boy there was nothing more exciting than queuing up that torrent to download the newest top gear from FinalGear.com – watching a new episode and having no idea what was gonna happen – man, it was magical.
Pffft, LED daylight running lights. Stupid stuff like this will never succeed…
We are so good at fixing problems that didn’t exist.

Lights tax the battery, don’t they?
The only thing Tommies are good at is to look down from on high.
Why is he calling it Andy? It’s called Audi. Take a Latin class

Nikolai Gogol described the German in his Petersburg Nights stories as one who would rather halve his bread purchasing if inflation doubled.
Even I find this hilarious. 😀
And I’m that German that goes to make others look reckless.
Well… to be honest, germans often focus on solutions for not existing problems, while they ignore the existing ones :/
They had a solution for the diesel exhaust gases… but well, it was ignoring the core of the problem.
The German mind in general always seeks purity in every kind of form. The purity of an idea and its implementation is valued higher than any alternative way or idea. This has beneficial attributes but can also cause extreme harm and implosion. It creates ideologies and large amounts of minds who are willing to follow them. It reaches through every topic of life and of course the Nazi era being the most extreme perversion of it. However, even on a smaller scale like waste separation purity is always the end goal. Also in general Germans Are not willing to divert from their plan of reaching purity although it might be unobtainable, unproductive or simply wrong. That’s why even if an idea might have good intentions it can backfire completely and causing the total opposite of what was intended.
You‘ll get the notion of the general German mind and its stubborn will to reach to purity once you have lived here for a while. Everything begins to make sense and it gives sort of an explanation of the general German behavior and history.
I think Germans are just great at marketing angles and marketing “appeal”

I heard normal lights increase your fuel consumption between 0.1 to 0.2 liter’s per 100km with extra daylight LEDs you quarter that just because it’s an LED. Furthermore you can use weaker lightsources if it’s extra because they will be made so they are well visible to others and not lighting mainly the pavement in front of your car. With that you drop down to a tenth of the normal energy consumption for the light.
