I remember reading that Stephen King hated Kubrick’s Shining because the story was, in part, about the hotel slowly driving Jack insane, while Nicholson played Jack as borderline murderous from scene 1.

He is so damn good. Tbf she is very good at acting scared, too. One of my fav movies.
Shelley duvall was actually scared of her ass during this filming. She was mentally destabilized by the method acting that Jack was using. He was so deep in chatacter he scared her shitless. I read this in an interview with her.
