we went down the wrong path when we convinced ourself that better Graphics is a sign of Progress. instead of what it really is, new polish on an old car.
it looks amazing. but regarding the gameplay it could be as well from 2003
I’m so horny for the pc version. I just got a high end machine and it’s already spoiled me – Miles Morales at max settings on my pc looks better than spiderman 2 on ps5. I’ll just sell the ps5 disc when the pc version drops and replay the whole thing
Remember back in the early 2000s, when games wanted you to have cinematic moments be interactible, but weren’t able to make you actually have full control over events like that, they had QTEs. Buttons that showed up on the screen, you press them or mash them, and the cutscene will succeed.
Now it’s 2023 and… oh nevermind, we’re still doing that
Those buildings are so low detail, why?
The scene looks epic, but looking close, things don’t look great. I’m sure the picture just doesn’t do it justice.
Yeah, people are talking about the amazing cinematic style, the graphics, and ray tracing, but what really blows me away are the loading speeds, especially when switching between Peter and Miles. I believe it’s a true game-changer and true next generation(I know Insomniac already did this before, but still…).
When you compare it to how games used to handle loading screens in the past, it’s truly amazing, and I’m really happy to have witnessed this evolution.
True, idk why you use spiderman as example. Its one of the worst you could pick.
Yeah holy smokes, I remember when I thought that nothing would beat oblivions graphics haha
Games have come so far from when I first l started playing on SEGA Genesis.
The real question is how far CAN they go.
I think our next big step in gaming is on the lines of Sword Art Online’s Nerve Gears.
That would be dope and I’ll probably be in my late 60s by then.
and here i am starting another FNV playthrough
wowo this iso charming
Tomb Raider 1996 looked real, so I don’t get why everyone’s so impressed by this. SMH my head
I wouldn’t know. I have an Xbox.
The gradient of progress was taller from the 80s to the late 90s. It’s flattened a lot since then, even if many gamers won’t admit it.
It looked like that in batman Arkham Knight

and that is incredible how no matter how great the photo is, the game running is more beautiful.
Imagine how gta 6 gonna be

Just look at star citizen. This game is in development for nearly a decade and it looks great! (Just too many bugs)
This exact thread was made yesterday comparing Pong to Spiderman
Facial animations look kind of awkward in Spider-Man 2, to be fair. Everything else is absolutely beautiful, though.
Visually yes they changed a lot. That’s about it for the last 10 years. Ai is worse than ever in some games and they don’t play much different.
It’s incredible. We had Spiderman 2 on the ps2. Now we have Spiderman 2 on the ps5
OP, this isn’t shitposty enough for r/gaming.

is this cities skylines 2?!
If you remove Spider-Man it kinda looks like modded Gta V. Great game nonetheless.
Now they need to make AI great as well in games.
Check out Starengine/Squadron 42 if you’re already impressed
Nothing on this world is even close to it
Visually, absolutely, they look astonishing.
But in terms of being an art form or simply good entertainment products big budget games have degraded.
RDR2 is way more impressive than this and that way old. games suck now
In terms of graphics, yes. In terms of substance, novel gameplay, and respect to the player — a big step backwards.
Yes but this is just one game.
Still a worse game than Ultimate Spiderman 2006
Those buildings are so low detail, why?

It’s amazing how many goddamn posts with this same basic goddamn title get posted anytime a new game comes out.
We fucking get it already.
Yes and it is also incredible how far video games have fallen.
Wait til you find out about PC gaming.
the environments and costumes look great, without a doubt!
BUT people’s face and skin tones still look like shiny plastic. and with VR, looks like we are back to year 2000 graphics all over.
Damn Cities Skylines 2 has a Spiderman mod now? That’s awesome!
What’s more impressive is the hardware that’s capable and all just under 200w of power, incredible.

Is this just a generic karma-farming post? This doesn’t look good.
This looks like shit
