“The universe is a large place. If there was only intelligent life on Earth, seems like a waste of space.”
– Carl Sagan, Contact
Two things are really shocking to me:
1) the openness to the question. Most people didn’t give a hard no, but rather an “I don’t know, maybe” or “yes, definitely”.
2) When the reporter just dropped into French. What are the odds he ran across somebody who didn’t speak english and did speak a language he knew? That’s a cool coincidence.
It’s very interesting how we can see how our perception is moulded by environment (which in this case is very local). Like how little of the entire planet did we know back then vs today? Jesus the same voxpop today wouldve had a much larger diversity of races even, which would illustrate how much further we’ve come to unification. As humans. Or earth inhabitants. The only place to loom then is upwards. Keen to see what’s next.
How people speak in the 60s compared to now is proof that we’re getting dumber.
“No, I’m German.”
Do you think there is life on other planets?
No I’m a German
EVERYONE is dressed nice.
The vegetable dude has the right mindset
Well I used to live in Lane Cove and I never saw one.
Wow, is it me or has the Australian accent has change a lot since the 60s?
I’d like Raquel Welch dropped on top of me.
Oh my! “The bible says there is only one world”. Thank god there were others who had the ability to have creative thinking vs being told what to think.
This is so weird… old people speaking coherently and not rambling about?
For later
“Well other planets no but mars, a million to one” -scientist
