In the 70s my dad served time in Canon City Colorado and he made this while locked up. I’m staying over my aunt’s house and she had it hanging in her basement.

Why?
This is really cool! I’d hang that up in my house too. I’m really digging this.
I like this, too, he really captures a time and mood
Wow! What a cool piece!
*Orale guey, que pasa?*
Was it some kind of pattern or was he just insanely talented?
For some reason this made pusher man pop into my head. Your dad is talented.
Great piece of art! Your farther is very talented.
Simòn Homes
Looks like Tom Petty
Cherish this.
Curious what tools were used? Knives and such probably weren’t available or maybe they were. I have no idea.
Nice! We just spent the afternoon in Cañon City, as it were.
That is really cool. For a few years, I was a consultant at a Federal prison, and I got to see some of the stuff that several of the inmates made. Many were very skilled craftsmen and I always hoped that they put those skills to good use after they were released.
That piece from your dad is a real heirloom!😊
I love that area of Colorado. Absolutely breathtaking.
You should post this in r/art too if you haven’t already. Very cool.
My uncle was prison warden in Canon City, CO, about that time. I’m pretty sure he was warden there in the mid to late 1970s. He had a few good stories from his prison warden days.
That’s Cheech.
i love this! soooooo well done. you (and he) should be VERY proud. its amazing.
My grandpa was a Canon City prison guard for 30 years and retired in 1972.
This looks like the folk art they feature on Antiques Roadshow. A beautiful example of a specific and widely collected kind of Americana.
Hang onto it, and any other works by your insanely talented father. Congrats.
I see Danny Trejo
That’s fly as hell
He should make them and sell them on Etsy
Your dad is very talented. Take this as your sign to liberate that piece from a basement!
Danny Trejo!
