Was “the suffering” back in the day, then Dead Space.
After Dead Space, haven’t felt the same about other horror games. Dead Space did cause a PTSD over the years about vents and ceilings in other games though. Always paranoid to check them. LOL!
Makes me think: A new FEAR would be great. Start over with 1. Although it was perfect, graphics still hold up somehow, I would be happy to get something new!
Meanwhile, in the distance, you hear a loud screech as you explore a dungeon of the chalice kind, and all of a sudden, you see an enemy drop off from a ledge just to find this abomination just SPRINTING towards you.
Christ, FEAR 2 was such a fucking letdown. Talk about taking 10 steps back.
They had an amazing game, with amazing visuals and effects, fucking futuristic (seeming) ai and they just kinda threw it all away in the sequels for some reason.
If you changed literally nothing from the first FEAR and just made more game, it would have been a success, but no.
Fear 1 right around in the beginning you go to climb down a ladder and the little girl is right in your face when you turn around to start going down. Almost shit my pants.
you go into an orphanage full of monsters. no lights other than the flashlight on gun. you look up. and the orphan monsters crawling on the ceiling jump to your face. painkiller. what a fucking great game it was.
Nah for me it was the giant shark boss in Ecco the Dolphin on Dreamcast. That shit gave me nightmares as a kid. I’m not even afraid of sharks, and never have been.
Fear 1 came out right after I graduated highschool. I remember playing that in my new apartment and it had a sick jump scare, so I got my girlfriend to try that same part and she ended up getting jump scared so hard she unbalanced the chair and fell backwards. It was so awesome.
I’m so lonely

“The vents have eyes.”
Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth had a VERY annoying chase against the fishermen
Primal Aspids. Hollow Knight
If you know, you fear them. And hate them
Fear 1 where you walk around a corner and a dude smashs you in the face with a 2×4. One of the few times I got properly jump scared from a video game

This is the [labyrinth sage](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qP-eUp8W5A4).
Amnesia rebirth ghouls I find very scary
Casually scrolling by I thought this was that one mini boss from Ocarina of Time.
BoTW players know the only answer to this is [Flowerblight Gannon](https://youtu.be/tBuNJYM4HZE?si=l3IZ9tBBVy6x_wko).
that little baby cretin from resident evil: the village scared the fuck out of me

Ok… I’ll bite. Why annoying?
Most annoying I’d say are the rats in DS1. they’ve made me turn it off more than once lol.
Deadhand In the legend of Zelda, ocarina of time. I was like 9 when I played that part and I was a sheltered child. Shit shook me to the core
I didn’t find these things terrifying, FEAR 2 had it’s moments but not them. The 1st expansion of 1 had some scares that will stick with me forever.
Walk down a long hallway, try to open a door- it’s locked. Turn around and you’re not in the same place. That stuck with me.
I think those weird stalker enemies in Dead Space 2 were one of the creepiest, they really stalked you, peeked around corners and would jump you badly
Fear 1 >>> Fear 2
For me, it’s the cloakers from the Payday games. That sound cue you get when they charge you fills my nightmares.
No enemy from any game will ever fill me with as much abject dread as either the Bloodsuckers from STALKER or the Xenomorph from Alien Isolation.

Condemned was WAY worse, horror wise.
Reaper is worse. Much worse.

Woah, its that one guy from Fallout New Vegas
He just wants a kiss, he’s just too shy to ask!
Give him a hand or he will bite u 😮
Why does the guy look like Joshua Graham.
currently trying to beat this game i miss this series
Ok but may I raise the scourge of my young mind, the Mainliners from The Suffering?

FEAR 1 Horror action game.
FEAR 2 Action horror game.
FEAR 3 Cartoon mobile-phone game. (also, killed the franchise)

FEAR was such a nice game, even implemented some innovative gameplay aspects like the soldiers behavior in fights
This franchise desperaly needs a reboot
