What a hot take, i’ve never heard this perspective before. /s
Coldest take of the day goes to, OP!
I’ll Never Understand why People use Capital Letters at the Start Of Words that Don’t Even require Them
Is this Red Dead 2? Red Dead 2 definitely had a rocky and buggy launch.
**EDIT**: to clarify, the PC launch
Trees, grass and a few rocks. Not saying it looks bad…but still.
And I think it had a rough start on PC as well…just like most others. Not sure about God of War but Horizon, Days Gone and Last of us for sure.
We’re still taking pictures of screens in 2023?
The title should have been my first clue.
I’m not sure I trust a person who doesn’t know how to take a screenshot to have a very informed opinion on graphical optimization in PC games.
This game had rocky performance at launch and the bluriest TAA in history.
Unless you are in game development, you can’t really make that assumption. I think most gamers have zero idea how a game functions on the technical side, myself included.
OP went to the Trump School of Capitalization
Not every game has a $500M budget. Also, any optimizations Rockstar has made are on their proprietary engine, so no one else can benefit from them.
Games shouldn’t be released if they aren’t fit for purpose but you’ve posted a picture of a game made by a developer with unlimited money and resources (GTA5 has been estimated to have generated nearly $8bn in revenue as of 2023).
Isn’t this game pretty heavy to run? And it had issues at launch as well. The extra features like DLSS didn’t come till later on.
I don’t know if it’s a limitation of Unreal, but hair is always garbage in all new AAA games.
Nothing like taking a picture of a screen to post about how good it looks lol The picture makes it look like trash dude.
The game was made in crunch, was very demanding on the PC hardware of the time and has one of the blurriest TAA implementations to this day and today’s games look better.
Hmm… RDR 2?
That’s locked to 30fps with no option for 60fps even on modern consoles. I was led to believe by the performance hounds of this very sub that this is completely unacceptable.
I look forward to all the gamers absolutely trashing the “unacceptable” 30fps cap on Tears of the Kingdom in a few days, stating that the lack of a 60fps performance mode option makes it a total non-purchase.
Ah yes. Good optimized. A game that is 5 years old and still have an hard time to run at stable 60 fps. With also an horrible launch full of bugs. Most of them still present nowaday.
Yeah I don’t think people understand the time crunch that goes into a game like this. Surprisingly, Rockstar doesn’t always rush their games as bad as other companies, not only that but they have huge budgets for lots of people to test and work, so with fewer people and less money and time you will 100% have a buggy mess.
Didn’t this game have a pretty buggy PC launch? I remember a ton of people talking about how much it crashed
I think there is 0 excuse for owning a gaming pc and not knowing how to take a screenshot
Red Dead 2 isn’t the best example.
On PC, for example, you can’t even run this game on multi-GPU rigs using SLI. I tried on three separate occasions to get the game running and it always crashed on startup, even years after launch. Even Rockstar support was no help.
I only finally figured out what the issue was when I upgraded to a single 30-series card, and now the game runs smoothly. I get that SLI isn’t as popular as it used to be, but every single other game I have ever played has never given me issues because of SLI. And they were 1080’s too, a popular card.
Plus, this game had some pretty major bugs at launch from what I’ve heard
RDR2 had an extremely rough launch on console, so bad they delayed online for an extra couple months. The PAC release a year later also went pretty badly.
I definitely agree but also this is the most expensive game ever made or one of.
There is an excuse though.
The combined marketing and production budget for RDR2 was $540 MILLION DOLLARS. Repeat, $540 MILLION FUCKING DOLLARS. For context, this is nearly five times what many hollywood movies spend today. When you throw that amount of money, people and years into a game you can and should optimize the fucking SHIT out of the game.
Redfall’s budget for comparison was a fraction of that, so you get a fraction of the optimization.
This is literally how it works, sorry for the common sense.
I am always amazed at how little people know about game development.
Why are we Capitalising random Words?
Was this game made by the same people who make nearly a billion dollars every year, from selling currency in a 10 year old game, that’s been re-released as many times as Skyrim?
Wasnt the pc port of rdr2 a total travesty at launch ?
Do you know how much money was pumped into this game relative to other games?
didn’t this game run at 30FPS on all consoles?
Do you realize how many people worked on this game? And they are pretty much the top talent pool in the games industry. Not excusing trash optimization, but this is terrible logic.
Have you seen the credits for a modern Rockstar game, though?
[GTAV’s credits are AN HOUR AND 10 MINUTES LONG.](https://youtu.be/gaQt-Icahns)
They have the manpower to optimize.
More insane? 40 minutes of that are *just* for the musical credits.
omg take a fucking screenshot
Op posting his circlejerking cold takes in order to karma farm. Why are you guys even upvoting this shit?
Says the guy who takes a photo of his screen instead of taking a screenshot.
You must not have played it at launch lol…
