I was 6 when I first beat The Legend of Zelda in ‘87–didn’t have a camera so drew the post credits on a cue card

Best game ever made.
what’s negative 37?
Actually quite impressive hand writing for a 6 year old
Your handwriting at age 6 was better than mine at that age.
Wasn’t this posted yesterday?
I’d frame it
Haha! My husband has tonnes of those stuffs laying around. His favourite Story ist when He and His Brother played Final Fantasy and couldnt Play Further because they Had No memory Card – so they Just let the console on or restarted the Game every time.
i probably died that many times just on the final boss. his damn disappearing shenanigans was impossible for my childhood brain to figure out without just spamming light arrows
Bad when a 6yo has better penmanship than a 28yo
Damn how did it survive all these years
I vividly remember telling kids in 6th grade that when you beat it, it starts over but it’s DIFFFERENT. Nobody believed me.
This looks so unbelievably close to my own hand writing that it’s freaking me out.
Also, good to know that I have the penmanship of a 6-year-old.
First game I beat was F-Zero (snes) age 7. I don’t think games like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter counted though because I beat those as well.
2nd game had to have been Super Mario World but not 100% sure.
And you included the c1986 at the bottom left. Perfect touch
*16 bit Zelda theme plays*
Not buying it! I had a hard enough time beating it at 12,,,lol
Oh yeah? So how’d you take this picture?
Wtf how did you know where to go? As a kid I couldn’t figure out we’re to go after a certain point.
Awww, memories. I remember such glory.
I was there. I still remember finding the raft. It was such an exciting moment. Zelda and Metroid NES are two of my fav games of all time.
This one is a real treasure! You should frame it!

Yo I bought Zelda for Super Nintendo at a yard sale for $.25 and this fucking dude had EVERYTHING on the save file. Completely decked out link with every weapon
Wait how did you beat the game at 6?
Dont worry, it has the copyright symbol that means it cant be fake ©
I was at the end of the game and my nephew erased my save. I make sure to bring this up at least once a year
Frame this!
This gives me memories of my childhood in the 80’s. This is def something we 80’s kids did and a relic of a memory.
My sister and I used to document our recreational achievements sometimes, too.
Pretty cool that u saved it.
How did you screenshot the credits?
You beat this, one of the only zelda games i need a guide for, at age 6 and only died 37 times? I call shenanigans
Somewhere in a trash heap, there is a notebook with all my Megaman passcodes and Castlevania maps, Zelda maps, and notes on hidden rooms.
Why it says Zelda1 if this was in 87? Zelda 2 came out in late 88 in the states and Europe.
This looks like one of the notes the zombies give you in pvz but much more wholesome.
I love that game and I have never beaten it 😭😭😭
Back then, video games were so simple and exciting that seeing every screen and all the content of a video game was the goal to maximize enjoyment.
I’m impressed that you completed the game at age 6. I don’t think I completed anything until I was a bit older. I’d literally just play games to play games. Didn’t really consider progression as a primary goal.
i love this
nice memory! i was in my late 30s when i discovered the legend of zelda. i wasn’t interested in games until this one. 12 hour sessions, calling in sick, ignoring any and all distractions. it was glorious! i called the hotline so many times, i become friends with a couple of the older helpers. 🙂
This reminds me when I recorded the ending of FFVII on VHS when I was 12 years old
Cue card or it didn’t happen.
You beat Gannon?! You even found Gannon at six?? I’m impressed.
As a father theres no way you were 6 when you beat it. This handwriting isnt the handwriting of a 6 year old
This is the kind of thing that I could be riddled with dementia, 96 years old on my death bed, and still have a crystal clear memory of that moment.
“I beat Zelda!”
“No, you didn’t.”
“Yes, I’m gonna tell you what it says at the end!”
Actual playground/recess discussions back in the day.
Frame this! Absolutely adorable 💓
Your six-year-old self has better handwriting than me
I couldn’t even read and write ‘till I was about 9
That’s a pretty hard game for a 6 year old isn’t it? 😮
