I used to play this map a lot when I was a kid. Coming back to it, it makes me feel kind of lonely and creeps me out a little bit with the ambience. Can anyone relate?

Yeah, this is very nostalgic. I was shit scared of AI.
Is this Socom?
this is quite common on 2000s games. theres no life, it makes them super ominous
Frozen waters are destroyable and cold water under them damages you overtime, it was scary indeed as a child.
Damn. So much nostalgy.
There’s a good video about what you described:

I forgive you for eating the in game dead to survive , now you must forgive yourself
Yuup. Liminal space in old games. I experienced it as a kid in Super Mario 64. Theres music and stuff to make you think you’re in a happy game, but the isolation and weird dead eyes of the NPCs are unsettling when contrasted. Most games back then were detailed enough to look somewhat real but also not detailed enough to be convincing
I remember I used to play this map a lot back then. then CS:Source and then CS:GO came out then i wondered where this map and DE_Vegas/Museum is nowhere to be seen.
were they unofficial
This, also: bank, estate
I found Goldeneye on the N64 was like this, the snow levels in particular.
