Most people don’t want to go to hardcore sharia law countries. Honestly fuck them and the oppressive mindset.
It’s a shitty country, literally everything that is fun is prohibited and the streets are usually eerie empty. The country has nothing (positive) that neighbouring Malaysia doesn’t have. People just cross the border to Malaysia if they want to have a good time.
Where are all the people?
I went as well. The reason no one goes there is there’s fuck all to do.
Ulu Temburong and Kampong Ayer were the only things worth doing. I guess a Muslim would really enjoy the mosques/king’s palace, but for someone non-religious they’re just golden churches.

Brunei certainly is a curious place. Strict Sharia law but the Sultan’s brother spent ~$15 Billion dollars in a decade on fast cars, escorts, real estate and lavish living.
