I played ‘Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins’ for the first time in nearly 30 years. I’m glad NSO is giving new generations a chance to play classics.

It’s one of my favorite Mario games out there
What a game, man. On the Game Boy. That Mario Lego Land level was so whimsical. And now, of course, we’ve lived long enough to see actual Mario lego sets in real life lol. Ahhh…. Lego missed an opportunity there for a new set, mimicking that Mario statue.
Anyway, they also had the debut of Wario, and the return of Tatanga, the previous Mario Land’s end boss. Fun times to be had.
Mario Land 2 was such a masterpiece of a game, especially considering how awful and jank Mario Land 1 was.
I’m one of those 90s kids that would have always been asking you to borrow your GB because my parents would never buy me one.
I’m still salty about it to this day. Also when I wanted an N64 they thought it would be a good thing for me to learn about money so they suggested and pushed me to sell my SNES, and like 15 games boxes and books. So I did to some woman who got it for her kid in no doubt the best SNES deal of the century.
I still seethe
You should check out the color rom hack.
Super Mario land 2 DX.
For real this game was awesome
you say that like prior nintendo consoles didn’t have a virtual console that let you buy them for the system rather than just rent them as part of an online paywall.
that is so cool 😮
The [Star Maze](https://youtu.be/k4N9jtYTb_Y?si=FVhwRgsYsTFBaKPT) level music slaps.
I remember my Gameboy coming with a copy of Mario Land 1, the game was pretty meh, it was kind of a weird Mario game since its music and stage design was so different from what i played on the NES.
Then this game came out and it was my favorite game on the gameboy. Such a good game
I loved this game as a kid. Discovering the secret levels was so fun.
Thank you for sharing, i would probably never have seen this otherwise and its amazing!
I had this instead of super Mario land for game boy and I loved this game
I should probably play this, then Wario Land 3.
Classic game.
Meanwhile, emulators:
The upcomimg Super Mario Wonder feels like a spiritual successor to this game
i tried playing that since i never got to finish it in the game boy back then, but it seems i’m too used with the physics and hitboxes of the modern games, i feel like i’m not in full control of mario most of the time
