I really enjoyed old school, edgy idubbbz when I was younger. Then he grew out of it, and so did I. I don’t think he was a bad person for being edgy and offensive in the past, and I don’t think I was bad for enjoying it. We just like edgy shit when we’re young and over time we either grow and become more compassionate, or that humour becomes our honest values like it did for Sam Hyde. I’m glad to have gone on that journey with Idubbbz.
Good on him. One of the hardest parts of growing as a person is taking responsibility for past mistakes. I can imagine it’s harder still when those mistakes are a matter of public record.
People shouting hypocrite should look up the definition and realise that evolving as a person isn’t the same thing.
I really liked this video. You could definitely tell that him making the long form documentaries (which I really like) was already a sign that he was changing, but this super straight acknowledgment of everything is awesome.
He owns up to everything, recognizes his past lack of empathy (something really difficult to acknowledge) and shares how he started to look at things to just be better. It feels fair to those who were hurt by what he created and also valuable as an example for those who need to see that change is possible.
When I was younger, I used to live by a phrase edgy Ian said, I’m paraphrasing here but it’s like “Hey dumbass, if you do something stupid, you can be criticised for it”
Mad respect that he holds himself to the same standard. Self criticism is definitely harder than criticising others.
He takes a bit too much credit for the state of the edge lord internet back in the day. That was just how the internet was. He was a product of it not an influencer of it.
Honestly, I don’t think he needs to “apologize”. Content cop was a great concept and really worked to call out some huge jerks in the YouTube community. I know he’s looking at this as he’s still a bad guy, but to be honest, I think he did a great job of calling out folks that really needed calling out.
*”I have ~~osteoporosis~~ seen the negative impact of my past actions after years of self reflection and it made me realize how negatively it affected not only me, my family, but the culture of the internet as a whole.”*
The last three videos of his I saw were this, the foggy fresh one and the sex worker one from three years ago. The latter two because i watched the first one and wanted to see what he has been up to.
I remember watching his content cop videos, and him doing wild shit with Joji as the pink guy. Eating a pickle in the sewer. Full Force. The harassment video he made of that girl he mentioned. Just ridiculous stuff. I liked them when I saw them, but never rewatched any of them. I never took the stuff he did seriously, and I knew where he was coming from and what he was trying to do.
I like where he was coming from in this video and i hope he does even better going forward. I like this Dubz the best.
It’s nice to see a (seemingly) genuine apology on youtube for once. Regardless of how you feel about idubbbz. It takes a lot to dig up the past and invite criticism on yourself without trying to explain it away. Personally it’s a refreshing change from the other overplayed “sigh” youtube apologies. Respect.
Very grown up video, fair play
I actually love Youtuber drama with zero context.
Who is this guy and what kind of cruel content is he apologizing for?
This is what happens when you grow up kids. You realize how much of a fool you were.
Who hasn’t sat back, done a little self-reflection, and come to the conclusion “I can do better?”
Unfortunately, most people. But it’s nice to see when it happens.
The Candyman really got to him

i’m surprised by the comment. those fans are like the old friend who keeps holding onto the past and hates on you for changing
I miss the squirrels

Is this the ‘hey that’s pretty good’ guy?

ITT: one dude replying to fucking EVERYTHING

Don’t come to Reddit if you want to discuss any valid criticism about iDubbbz

I hate that he thinks bad unboxing wasn’t good content based solely on his personality. That shit was fucking great.
Who the fuck is Sam Hyde and why does his name come up in this thread a lot?
Seriously people need to stop being so involved with twats on the internet.

Just curious, has he deleted/delisted his old edgy stuff?
He should’ve just squatted 225 below parallel.
My problem with this isn’t that he’s grown as a person. That’s fine. But he still didn’t need to apologize lol.
