I think I like it because it’s like looking into an alternate timeline where he never suffered his tragic accident and he’s just happy and doing great.
This man will forever hold the title of best superhero movie performance in my view. Absolutely perfect and over 45 years later he is still the standard all others are compared to.
I had the random good fortune to meet him briefly and hang at a few parties with him around 1991 in NYC. Such an amazing, sweet, smart guy. So immensely talented and brilliant. What a loss.
“On March 11, 2007, the Christopher Reeve Foundation, which Dana chaired after her husband, Christopher Reeve, died in October 2004, announced that it had changed its name to the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation on the first anniversary of her death.” Wikipedia.
Whenever I see a pic of him, I think back to the Tonight Show where the first thing he talked about was how much fun he had riding a horse for the first time in years.
Both deserved so much better.. hurts my heart thinking of it.
We were all cheated out of them being able to do wonderful things for the world if the accident hadn’t happened. Chris was always meant for more than acting.
My uncle suffered from a tbi while living abroad in France. He was in a coma for a very long time, and they assumed he wouldn’t survive. He and Christopher Reeve just so happened to be recovering from their respective injuries at the same time and crossed paths. He was such a cool guy, really sweet.
That scene where Chris goes absolutely berserk after he discovers Lois Lane died during that earthquake… falling into a crevice in her car, and he’s so hurt that he shoots into space and circles the planet a billion times reversing its orbit and somehow turning back time…
People only really remember Superman, but dude was a really good actor. One of my favorites was the movie version of Noises Off! (Though, to be fair, that cast was ridiculous. Talk about an ensemble)
My stepfather was one of his nurses in the rehab hospital after his accident. My stepdad wound up in a tabloid when he took reeve out for a breath of fresh air. Some photographer was hiding in the bushes taking photos without permission. My mom was in the grocery store, looks over and sees my stepdad on the cover of a tabloid. He’s not super outgoing until getting to know him and my stepdad was pissed about the intrusion.
While his accident was obviously a crazy event, equally crazy was Dana contracting lung cancer around the time of his death.
She announced it less than a year after his death and was dead less than 7 months later. She had never personally smoked but its believed years of secondhand exposure from singing in smokey venues is what caused it.
My father is a screenwriter and met with Christopher Reeve (prior to the accident) to see if he would front a project playing a very tragic character dealing with very difficult circumstances and Reeve genuinely said he struggled with the idea because he had lived a very privileged and blessed life and thought it would be hard to tap into/understand the role well enough to do it justice.
It is so sad that someone so aware of their own luck and so happy with their life would deal with what he had to. Very kind man, both my parents always gush over him.

I was a kid when he had his accident and to this day I feel on a visceral level like riding horses just isn’t worth the risk.
This is so sweet 🥹

Their story ended so brutally.
He was the best Superman

I admire Henry Cavill, but Chris is my childhood Superman. His death still chokes me up.
My Gen’s Superman. Still the best to wear the cape and the glasses.
Superman really flew away with our hearts in this alternate timeline! 🚀❤️
I remember thinking she was an amazing human.
Both deserved so much better.. hurts my heart thinking of it.

Also the WTC Twin Towers in the background if I’m not mistaken.
That scene where Chris goes absolutely berserk after he discovers Lois Lane died during that earthquake… falling into a crevice in her car, and he’s so hurt that he shoots into space and circles the planet a billion times reversing its orbit and somehow turning back time…
So awesome.

The fact that their son Will also lost his mom due to cancer too (and that both died 2 yrs one after the other) is just devastating.
He and Robin Williams were best mates back then. Such tragic stories.
Health is a golden crown only visible to the sick.
Christopher Reeve looks like he’d be handsome in any decade in any century.
I worked with Dana in NYC in the early 90’s. She was such a lovely, kind and happy person inside and out.
So much pending tragedy in one photo.
I can’t get past the dread of knowing the future for these two seemingly wonderful people đź’”
