As a handyman, this makes me barf. The effort reqired to do that vs. just cutting the square to make the outlet serviceable, or moving the outlet up … I just… I mean… How could… Dammit.
This does not meet building code. You cannot repair or access the electrical out let. Shoddy job. I would insist it be corrected. Also plan ahead. Measure twice before you cut once.
As an avid DIYer, I can confidently say it would have been faster and easier just to move the outlet up.
Only exception would be if the line for it came from the floor and there wasn’t enough slack to move the outlet up 3 inches. In that case why not just cut out a rectangle from the backsplash to accommodate the whole cover plate? It would have been easier and not looked like shit.
I’m not shocked.
“They pay them way more than they pay me”
pretty satisfying honestly
Someone forgot to account for the backsplash.
Well that’s disappointing 🙁
That can’t possibly be up to code.
The differences between a bad planner, a problem solver and a perfectionist who never showed up, exemplified.
Onto the next job

Edit – at least there’s a GFCI there.
What is the next step in case of malfunction outlet, another practical design ?
This just has the vibe of a Motel 6
They also cut a small piece for the switch
Pls don’t . Just remove the plug and place a new one 20 cm higher
No no no! Please tell me it isn’t so!
That bottom power point looks as disappointed in the job as the owner…
The design is very human
Form follows function
What if they need to replace switch or outlet 😂
Top notch work

I saw this and needed an old timey swear…
**What in tarnation?!!!**
Only a psychopath would do something like this.
Even the outlets look shocked 🤣
Barf
Wow.
No.
“Installed the countertop, boss”
“Not my fucking job”
Ah! I see you own a Dremmel, as well! Not bad, not bad work at all, can barely tell where you drifted!
The little switch groove just completes the look…

I really hope they got fired over that one.
Why not just move the outlet up?
