Huh… only 94.4%…

  • 90% of the steam games i have I’ve never even opened. I just see a game on sale for 2 dollars and I just buy it. I never actually play it. So I don’t doubt that other people do this too.

  • I own a metal gear solid game that I haven’t played yet. One of the greatest games of my childhood, you bet your ass that I’m buying it when it’s on sale whether I’m going to play the game as an adult or not.

  • Sometimes these percentages can be so whack. People occasionally bring them up in Elden Ring discussions, like “how many people didn’t even finish Margit?”, which has a 79% completion on PS4 BTW, but then on the other hand you have stuff like Fallout 3 on PS3 having almost exactly the same percentage for finishing the quest for exiting Vault 101 (getting out of the damn tutorial!). Some might consider those points comparable, but Margit is kinda optional and you have plenty of stuff you can do in Limgrave and even Caelid before going to Margit. Exiting Vault 101 at least technically is mandatory and marks the proper beginning of the game as you are finally free to explore the wasteland past that point.

Even worse, I’m playing through Immortals Fenyx Rising at the moment and think it’s a fairly decent game. The main objective of the game is to meet the 4 important Gods, rejuvenate and restore them to their former glory by doing 3 main quests by each God. The highest trophy percentage (on PS5) for meeting any one of these Gods is for Aphrodite standing only at 47%, and I think I came across her in the first 2-3h of gameplay. The lowest percentage for meeting a God is for Hephaistos standing at 27%. The highest one for finishing any God’s main quest line is for Athena at 29%.

The game isn’t particularly hard nor super long, I have played around 50h and I’m nearly done with the main storyline, and I have definitely screwed around doing optional stuff. Contrast those percentages with Elden Ring’s most achieved ending, Age of the Stars, which is sitting at 24.5%, which probably takes +100h easily for most first time players.

It’s kinda crazy how differently motivated people can be between games to play them.

  • Is sometimes buy games that are on sale, and I have no real intention of playing them. I have a whole folder called “Mehh” in steam, ready to dive into when I run out of real games.

  • A lot of people here are saying or implying that the only 94.4% of the people got that far because the game just isn’t worth playing. Honestly… am actually rather enjoying it. As a Metal Gear game it’s dumb. I mean they do some odd stuff with their story, but this is sooooo far outside of anything even close to what I have seen in a MG game (granted last one I played was MGS3). But as a sci-fi survival game though, I’m really digging it. The controls are pretty bad. I’ve been able to tweak them to be a little better, but it’s obvious that it was designed as a console game and then ported over with no though put into the controls at all. But once I got a bit more used to that, I’m enjoying the mechanics and exploration of it. Admittedly, I do love a survival game.
