When I was 12-13 yo, I had Sandwiches for lunch with aluminum foil wrapped, I went to the class dustbin, threw it and came back to my bench and realized “it” was Sandwich that I threw and foil was in my hands. So it does happen.

Did this to half of my DVD collection in late 90s. Bag of trash in one hand, plastic bag full of DVDs (took on vacation). Two days later (after trash day) I go looking for a DVD and find a bag of trash.
Having been a tired dad myself, I’d just like to point out that if this were in fact possible, humankind would have gone extinct about 200,000 years ago
Nurse dude who takes care of kids all day. I was at the grocery store getting curry for tomorrow’s dinner. Woman in front of me goes to put her cart up before paying and I immediately walk to the pin pad with my wallet out on auto pilot. She come back, the cashier, her and myself have a good laugh about it. Cashier starts ringing me up ” how are you doing today?” I replied “Apparently I’m really tired.”
Haha reminds me of the time my mom sent me to the store for milk and told me to take out the trash on the way. I walked all the way to the store with the trash.
I was far too young to remember this (less than five), but one Christmas at my grandparents my extended family decided to place all our wrapping paper and presents into black plastic trash bags. My dad then drove the garbage to the local dumpsters, and it took a long time to realize that the presents were missing (I vaguely recall something about driving back home a couple hours away, but maybe that was a different story), and they eventually realized he’d thrown them in the dumpster. By the time he’d gotten back to the dumpsters they were buried by other garbage, he couldn’t remember which dumpster he’d thrown them in, and the Sun had set.
It took hours to find everything. Decades later our family is paranoid about losing anything in piles of wrapping paper, even in the floor minutes after opening it.

Recently I put my cereal in the fridge and the milk in the pantry. Dad brain for sure.
