This is oddly tragic. What a shame it would be to only have a life of gaming to look back on. Years sitting in front of a screen. Form memories you’ll be proud of people, you can’t change them.
Edit: Not that I didn’t expect downvotes, but if “form memories you’ll be proud of because you can’t change them” pisses you off then maybe you’re precisely who needs to hear it.
Oh, I know. I’m 41, and I’ll tell you, 15-20 years is the sweet spot for nostalgia. Perfect example, I look back at playing Kingdom Hearts the same way Kingdom Hearts made me look back at watching all the Disney movies from my youth. It’s a weird feeling, but it happened to me, and it’ll happen to you, too.
I’m having to remember this while playing totk. There is only one “first time” for a game, so enjoy it. Its awesome playing a game and realizing “holy shit, this is something I’d be wishing I had 2 years from now, best savor it” my best gaming memories from the last several years involve Elden Ring and BOTW, and there was a certain emptiness when I completed them, so I’m taking totk slowly.
Remembering your first play through compared to your 3rd or 4th is a lot of fun. Especially in Witcher 3. Felt like a superhero on nightmare compared to my first play through struggling against ghouls on normal.
I think that about everything. It helps me not get to worked up or mad. “It sucks now but in the future ill look back on this and wish I could do it again.” That mindset has really helped me.
This is why I always try to save something I’m excited about for vacation. I have fond memories of playing Outer Wilds during the day with my pup cuddled up on the couch. I can hear the banjo music now!
That is true. I remember my first time playing Battlefield Bad Company 2. It was my first time seeing buildings exploding in a video game. It was awesome. The first map I played was a snow map where we had to parachute in as U.S forces and arm some computers at a construction sight.
My nostalgic memories are of my late teens and early twenties, with games like Final Fantasy 7, Dead Space, and Resident Evil 2-4. I guess this is true since I have played the remakes of all these within the last year, in my early fourties. Maybe when I’m in my mid sixties the re-re-makes will be launching.
Oh, I am 100% aware. Currently playing RDR2 (finally) and yesterday I got to the part where the song ‘may I stand unshaken’ played while you’re riding across the country and *damn* I will not forget that for a long time.
I like recording my playthroughs for this very reason, it’d be nice to come back many years down the line and remember all the fun I had in the game.

Playing gothic 2 feels the same as 10 years ago.
That’s gonna be some angry nostalgia then.
Are you using the greathelm in the picture?
I see, thou art a greathelm enthusiast as well.

Playing ghost of tshushima completely blind right now… and man what an experience.
Recently finished Horizon Forbidden West, and Witcher III w/expansion before that. I’m going on 34, but feel like a kid again playing these.
Definitely gonna have some FFXIV nostalgia if I ever eventually stop playing it

Counterpoint: burn your idols and live for the present.
Playing Persona 5 atm, sounds accurate
This is so stupid.
This applies to anything in life and is painfully obvious.
Downvote this garbage.
Bro MW 2019 would be one for me. Maybe MW II aswell
Hmmm. Doubt it.
