The original black and white photo was taken when Helen Keller visited the Chaplin Studios in late 1918 during the filming of “Sunnyside.” She was able to “talk” to Charlie by reading his lips with her hands and feeling the vibration of his voice on his throat. She remembered him as being “shy, almost timid, and his lovely modesty lent a touch of romance to an occasion that might otherwise have seemed quite ordinary.”
I think [this was the original post](/r/Colorization/comments/214thr/helen_keller_meeting_charlie_chaplin_in_1919/) by the colorizer but since the original images are gone I am not certain.
I’ll bet she really enjoyed ~~watching~~ uhm, ~~listening to~~ uhm, sitting in a room quietly while his movie played! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
I think this is at Chaplins studio on La Brea in Hollywood that is now Henson Studios. Really cool place, it has chaplins feet and sig in the concrete. I think it was sold to A&M and has some of the best studios in there (we are the world was recorded there). Henson bought it in the 80s (I think) and now there’s a bunch of rad old props like Skeksies from The Dark Crystal in the reception.
For a moment there i thought charlie chaplin had a thicc behind. But he didn’t :'(
Something tells me she never really appreciated his work
Years ago I went to China and found there was a brand called Helen Keller selling glasses and sunglasses.
That’s Robert Downey Jr as Charlie Chaplin.

She touched his face for a moment and then signed, “I’m not in to slapstick.”

Guy is packing
It never ceases to amaze me how historically recent Helen Keller was. Everytime I hear about her, my first thoughts are she lived in the mid-1800s.
Thinking about it I suppose it has to do with how she was treated early in her life….
Perky cheeks

Ngl thought charlie had a dumpy

He’s holding a hat but I thought he just had a really fat ass
I didn’t realize he was holding a hat and I had a complete braingear jam thinking Charlie had a wildly plush badonkadonk
Hellen Keller does the Vulcan Mind meld circa 1918.

“This guy feels funny. Like seriously hilarious. Wow.”
Oooooohhhh he’s holding a *hat*
Two of the most famous communists of their time <3
A deaf, blind, mute meets a silent film star? How would she know who he was?
well dang. Today I realised I’ve had Hellen Keller and Anne Frank confused in my mind for decades.
I don’t know who hellen Keller is and why she’s so famous, I know of her by cultural osmosis that she was blind but nothing else.
Charlie got some cakes lol
PAWG Chaplin
Took me half a second before I realized that Charlie Chaplin didn’t have a massive dumptruck ass here
Something I never knew growing up was she was a huge labor and civil rights activist as an adult.
Did she enjoy his movies?
Most people don’t know Chaplin was the first celebrity with ass implants.
Idiots
Ok for a second I thought Charlie has some booty
“Its Hitler!!! Shoot him before he becomes too powerful!!!”
Charlie Chaplin looking real thiccc for a second
How would she know?
This is cool, but I gotta ask, why would Helen Keller give a shit who Charlie Chaplin is?
She had never heard of him before or seen his movies.
I thought that was his ass.
Reddit has ruined me. The first thing I saw was Charlie Chaplin with a butt implant.
What an incredible woman. The strength it must have taken over the years to get through each day.
