Pretty meh performance. People only think they liked it because he died and that fake story that playing the joker made him actually go insane. If he didn’t die no one would remember this joker at all.
For me, the way folks talk about this is indicative of how people misunderstand depression. Heath didn’t unalive himself during this role, he did it during Imaginarium. I’m not him, I wasn’t there, so I don’t want to speculate too much on things I don’t know about, but if you compare those two characters, I feel like playing the Imaginarium character would make me depressed far more then the Joker would.
This guy changed Batman as a whole, brought back the darkness and evil where any act the joker took even if a bit comical, was from a very evil, deep, dark, and depraved monster.
Too bad he wasn’t able to stay with us to see the impact of his performance.
It’s a shame, he was a kid with such a range and this solidified him as one of the greatest actors or all time
Little did he know his performance transcended the medium and elevated The Dark Knight to heights that will never be equalled.
I actually recommend reading the comments on youtube

Didn’t sound like a guy going to kill himself.
Such a shame we got robbed of such a great actor at pretty much his pinnacle

This vid is horrible. 2 second sound byte with 30 seconds of movie footage
At the 1:15 mark, Batman is on fire…where did that come from? Extended cut?
Does anyone have a video of the interview with out all the fluff?

Old Tom Waits interviews which obviously heavily influenced the Joker character.
When I watch Jack Nicholson play The Joker, I see Jack Nicholson.
When I watch Heath Ledger play The Joker, I see The Joker.

Great actor and amazing Joker; horrible, long, and bloated movie however.
Fuck opioids. Fuck benzos. We miss you, Heath.
How do do I listen to this without the movie in the background, distracting
He’s the reason everyone tells fans that bitch about casting choices that they should shut the fuck up.
