He was the Voice of Winnie The Pooh, Ernie, the head Keebler Elf, voiced, Fred Flintstones, rich uncle Tex, voiced “Sludge” smurf. became the voice of Goofy, in the 1960’s. An integral part of the Mayberry universe, none other than Hal Smith.

I never saw a photo of him before!
Otis!
Never knew that
That’s who Nicky reminds me of. Nicky, from Marvelous Mrs Maisel.
I had no idea! He also had a beautiful singing voice
Now that’s an “old school cool” fact I did not know!…
He also had a long-running kids’ morning show in LA, in which he wore a chef costume and shilled for IHOP.
r/titlegore
He’s (I think) the only actor from the Mayberry show that didn’t sell his rights, so he continued to get paid through all those years of re-runs.
Respect ✊
Otis Campbell.
OTIS WAS WINNIE-THE-POOH????????
My childhood has been shattered!
Fred Flintstone was voiced by Alan Reed.
Sterling Holloway voiced Winnie-the-Pooh
A bit of r/titlegore there. But Smith worked all the time. A lot of commercials. Just look in YouTube.
He looks like every one of his characters at once. lol
Hal Smith was *not* Fred Flintstone.
I think Hal Smith was Owl and Sterling Holloway was Winnie the Pooh (?).
The only married person in Mayberry and the town drunk.
I double checked the username of OP, fully expecting to see /u/CommaHorror
Ahh the good ole days, where there was always a funny drunk person walking around.
It was always a great episode when Otis staggered in.
he wasn’t Fred Flintstone. that was Alan Reed.
Oh bother
He looks like agree Flintstone a bit
Otis! I had no idea he did all that voice work!
Arguably the most famous person from Massena, New York – next to Baseball HOFer Bid McPhee and Astros pitcher Jim Deshaies
He always does his best work when he’s a little gassed.
Ha..never knew that, just thought he was the town drunk
I didn’t know most of that, but I loved the Andy Griffith show. It is one of my mom’s favorite and we still turn it on for a few episodes every once in a while and now my kids all start whistling a long. It’s a quality family moment.
Yeh, Otis Campbell, the town alcoholic is a character that would not fly today. That makes him even funnier I think. One of my favorite Mayberry citizens.
I love that mid-20th hobos wore neckties. They were always too big and never tied properly but a gentleman wears a necktie.
He also voiced John Avery Whitaker, “Whit,” the central character from the radio drama *Adventures in Odyssey*.
Sterling Holloway was the voice of Pooh originally, but Hal Smith replaced him in some later shorts.
