1. Understand who you are and why you are fighting about this subject.
2. Listen to the other person “for 10 minutes” without speaking to understand their side. Then disingenuously tell them “that makes sense” and that you appreciate them.
3. Reframe situations as “us” instead of “me vs. you”
So this is actively bad advice and I really don’t know what they hoped to achieve by bringing on this professor to give vague non-actionable platitudes for 4 minutes.
I fully agree on that. People should stop arguing with each other. It’s pissing me off so much. If you don’t agree with me we’re going to have a problem. If you are here to argue you can leave, buddy.
What’s the value, logic, and rationale behind their perspective? Unfortunately, with the Idiocracy world we are living in – that ends up beings selfish, none, and poor. Devolved homo sapiens, fueled by fear, violence, self-entitlement, and – more often than not – substance abuse. And now, thanks to technology and social media – cheap dopamine junkies glued to their phone, which serves as the quick escape from reality, in an instant.
How to argue: don’t. Life’s too short. Someone tell that to this professor.
This is not how to argue.
No it isn’t!
Argue with you useless
great idea, i’d love to find common ground with fascists who would rather I be dead. awesome advice thanks!

What a drawn out and vapid explanation, you can put ‘Harvard’ in front of anything and people will think it’s insightful

Blah blah blah
A Harvard professor explains how to argue without ever mentioning rational / critical thinking. 🤨
Discouraging.
Like sending someone into the wilderness without a compass.

We have to do better.
