haven’t seen a game gear in a long time, didn’t realize the screen was so small. felt so much bigger back then. you thought gameboy was a hog gamegear was like a diabetic southerner at a golden corral, sucks up everything. family made me get a wall charger for it because it sucked down batteries to fast.
I had a game gear toll some twat stole it from me at college, was a great little system. Lived crystal warriors on there, such a good little rpg. I had completely forgotten how monstrously big the thing was though!
Had to play the game gear next to a plug so the adapter could reach, because it nommed through 6xAA batteries. Now maybe I was just bad at finance but 5 year old me couldnt afford 6xAA batteries.
I would argue the Atari Lynx, although not as popular, was the most powerful portable at the time. Scaling, rotation and basic polygons…it’s just too bad it didn’t have the support it needed to stick around.
Game gear was an underrated handheld device, but the most ridiculous thing looking back is how it took 6(maybe even 8) batteries to use
Is this a 6-year old repost?
The Game Gear was an absolute behemoth back in the day. Kid me’s brain wouldn’t even be able to comprehend the colossal size of the Steam Deck.
oh my god lol nostalgia.

Do it again with a Steam Deck now
These posts are so exhaustingly dumb. Yes, technology gets better over time, wow so profound.
That’s Disgaea 5 right? I had that on the Switch too and really enjoyed it.
I know it is the nintendo switch, but Game Gear has still more battery life than the steam deck..
I played so much Road Rash on my game gear back in the day.
I don’t think I’ve pulled my switch out of the dock in about a year, as I really only play it on my TV.
The true progressive gaming device is Steamdeck.
Never have I witnessed a device capable of eating batteries like the gamegear
watermarked an image of 2 video game consoles lol
The more things change the more things stay the same.
The joke here is I own both and I’ve played the left one more recently.
Pupils is a fucking great game.
I’m gonna go play my switch now
I had that 4 in 1 game. Brings back memories that does.
